Best way to do large cross stitch pattern?
I'm working on a large counted cross stitch pattern about 12in x 8in with 60 different colors. Is it best to do one 10x10 stich block at a time or take one color through the whole thing? Its turning into a mess!!!

- Do one color at a time - http://yarntree.com/007begin.htm http://www.wikihow.com/Cross-Stitch http://crossstitch.about.com/od/learntocrossstitch/Learn_How_to_Cross_Stitch_Cross_Stitch_Tutorials_and_Information.htm
- Wow. Who ever you are. im impressed, im doing the same situation as you are my fellow yahoo a tir. ha ha Mine is like a maths page that has one colour that i drew that is using squares itself.
- I don't limit myself to only 10x10 blocks but do a small area at a time. If you try to do one colour all the way through and make a mistake you may not find it until you come through with further colours. You will then have to undo a LOT of stitches. I make a photocopy of the pattern pages (enlarged if necessary) then i use a pencil to cross off the stitches as I finish them.
- I did one the was 30 X 15. I was lucky and maybe you are. Is the pattern on more than one page? If so you can do one page at a time or you can divide the pattern you say is 12X8 into 3 or 4 different parts. Can you print out a copy of the pages? If so cut the pages into the parts you want to do. 3 or 4 different pages. Don't try to do one color all at once as it is difficult to do. by doing parts at a time you will be able to see the mistakes and then go to the next page.
- Don't do it in 10x10 blocks - it will be obvious when you are done. Do a small section at a time but don't break it into obvious squares. You will want to try gridding. That will help if you do want to do one color at a time. Here's a link to help you with gridding - http://crossstitch.about.com/od/tipsfabric/qt/griddingtips.htm
