Can you really become obsessed with knitting? ?

I was at a bookstore last night looking for an anime magazine, and I saw a book for people obsessed with knitting. Are there really people obsessed with knitting? I think the title was "Meditations for obsessive knitters" or something like that. I knit, and my Dad always says I'm addicted to knitting co's like every time I finish a project, I start a new one right away.

2. yes you can be obsessed with knitting. Anyone can be obsessed with almost anything.
3. I think Absolutely you can - as with anything you find relaxing or pleasurable it can become necessary to your lifestyle. I have four boys all between 3 and 11 they argue non stop and the only thing that keeps me sane is my knitting! I hope all people can become addicted to something that is non detrimental to their health! LOL
4. Probably not in the sense that withdrawal sets in every time one is away from one's knitting. However, if knitters *do* rely on their knitting for stress relief and for "what to do with my hands," it's a positive addiction rather than a negative one.
5. Most definately! I have two projects in the works and just got back from the store where I bought enough yarn to make 4 more baby sweaters. Some people become obsessed with all the different yarns and how they feel in your hands. While I am working on one project I am thinking not about the project on my needles but what I am going to knit next. I've been knitting for more than 30 years.
6. Well, it is an addiction if you go by the most strictest sense. But it's a therapeutic hobby. And you're not alone. The addiction for me is yarn. I love to look at it, touch it and dye it.
7. yeah along with crochet, spinning fibers and yarn (i heard are very addictive) I have been doing that since June 6 2005 and since made over 170 projects that is a mixture of knit, crochet and sewing, mostly knit. Its a ton of fun, you get to express yourself. make custom made sweaters and alot of other things without paying a fortune for it.
8. Definitely! I am obsessed with crocheting and sewing. am not a very goo knitter! Maybe we need a group called Craftaholics! LOL
9. I knit too and i think that i am obsessed. I'm constantly running out to the store to buy more yarn, and even when i tell myself that this is going to be my last project, i STILL go and buy more!!! I just finished a sweater yesterday, and now im making my friend a scarf. Half the linnen cupboard is full of yarn that i have yet to knit and it gives me a little thrill when i go in there and see all of it just sitting there. So yes i am truly obsessed.
