Which stitch do I start with when knitting 1x1 rib with even number stitches?

If i have 64 stitches and need to knit rib, the first row will start with knit, does the second row start knit or purl?

1. Gee it's a long time! I'm pretty certain it's knit. But you need only do a few stitches in row 2 to see if it looks right. If it doesn't then unpick them and re-do.

3. if u want the ribbed looked u just knit i think on both rows. cause when u knit one and peal two u make it flat on one side and not on the other if i remember right. it is hard to say but i could show u better. i learned by doing not reading. well good luck and happy knitting.
4. If you have an even no of stitches and knit the first stitch, the last stitch will be purl, and when you turn the work you knit the purled stitch, so every row will start knit 1 Have fun!
5. With an even number of stitches you will start each row with a knit. Each row starts with a knit and ends with a purl, so when you turn round to do the next row it will be the same - start with knit and end with purl.
6. If you have an even number of stitches, yes, each row will start with K1.... but I would not use an even number. The balance is off. You should start and end with a Knit.... so you need 65 stitches. If this is a scarf, it looks better that way. If it is a garment, you need that edge stitch for the seam. That is a design problem... nothing to do with how you are doing it. But even numbers rarely work out for balance. Sorry if I am confusing you!
7. When you're doing a two stitch pattern like k1p1 ribbing and you have any even number of stitches, every row will be done the same. From a given side (front or back, right or wrong), you are stacking the knits on top of other knits and the purls on top of other purls. That's what makes it a ribbing.
