Assault with a weapon? How many years in prison? Is there any chance you can just get probation?

I wondering if a 20 year old man was wanted for "Assault with a Weapon". The victim was a girl, who required stitches for her injury, she was struck with a pipe, or baton. Im wondering how many years estimated would he receive in prison if he was found guilty? Thanks so much! In Canada, Ontario btw

1. Hopefully, such a person would be put in prison for a long time - he is clearly a danger to the public and an absolute bastard.
