If 10 knitting stitches = 4" on size 11 needles then...?
How many stitches would 4" equal on size 13 knitting needles?

- well as a math prblem 10 over 11 = x over 13 you get 11.8 lol
- It depends on what system you are using. I don't go by numbers -- I use metric sizes for needles (more accurate and universal). I think 13 is smaller needles here, but I think in the US, they are larger. It's so confusing!! If they are larger, then you would get fewer stitches in the 4". You really need to do a swatch to see -- we all have a different tension in our knitting. Let two or three people work on the same piece of knitting and you will see the differences! And we aren't consistent even ourselves -- with larger needles, you sometimes have a harder time controlling tension as opposed to smaller, or vice versa. You have to do a swatch to find out.
- Get some size 13s and try it? I use mostly 5s and 7s, I can usually guess the gauges. For your problem I would guess 9-stitches, but I wouldn't bet a sweater on it. I make hats, mostly watchcaps. I use the same size yarn fairly regularly, but when I try something odball, there is no telling who it is going to fit. If I really need a swatch, I make a beer cozy.
- you would need to make a gauge swatch to see what your tension is. every knitter has different tension. it depends on what size yarn you use and how tight or loose your tension is.
- You need to make a swatch of 4x4in to find out because everyone knits differently and tension makes a difference.
