how do i double up the yarn when knitting?

i have a pattern which says that i am to use my wool "used double throughout". How do i do this?

  2. Use two balls of yarn, and hold the strands together as if they were one.
  3. You lay two balls together, and use both strands all the way through just as if you were using a single ball strand. It is to make the yarn thicker, or to do tweedy like yarn if the 2 balls are different colors.
  4. It means exactly what it says: use the yarn doubled. That means, to fold over the yarn, and you have a doubled thickness. When knitting, you would use two balls, and knit with both held together, as if it was one yarn. Simple!
