How do you change the hoop size on a Babylock Ellure embroidery machine?

I have a 6"x13 1/2" embroidery hoop for my machine, but the machine will only recognize anything larger than a 5"x7" hoop. So when I try to make things bigger than that, it won't let me. Any ideas on how to make it recognize a larger hoop?

  1. An embroidery machine is built and programed to stitch a maximum area and this is the limit. It does not matter how large the hoop is, if the maximum stitching area is 5 x 7 and you have a design that is larger, the design has to be split into two or more sections. The sections are stitched one at a time and the fabric has to be rehooped after each stitching so the sections align and become whole again. You have to have machine embroidery editing software to do this. Some machine embroidery companies that sell designs for the home embroidery machine do splitting for the customer and some do not. Embird is a very popular brand of embroidery software and you can get a free trial that includes design splitting here, if interested - http://www.secretsof.com/content/1853 This is a very good forum for embroidery machine owners - http://www.annthegran.com/cs/forums/ A variety of tips and techniques here - http://www.emblibrary.com/EL/elprojects/holder.aspx?page=techniques
  2. I have an ellure and I use PED-BASIC to put my designs on my card. The machine will only do the size the card tells it the size is. I am adding the url for PED-BASIC but you can use embird to resize designs also. If you want the design bigger you need to get the design in the size hoop you want it. 4x4, 5x7 or 6x13 etc...
