How long does it take for stitches to dissolve?
I had an episiotomy. How long does it take for the stitches to dissolve. Furthermore, if the stitches have dissolved, does this mean the wound is closed completely?

- mine kept coming out when i peed. but it healed perfectly.
- depends on the wound and the stiches used----usually for a small flesh wound 3 to 6 weeks, for something larger and 2 to 3 months
- a couple days I think
- i had a c section and i got stitches on the inside and my Dr told me they would dissolve in like 6 days, and yes once they fall out the wond is healed but still take it easy, good luck
- From my understanding it takes about 7 days and the wound will only close completely if the doctor did the stitches correctly.
- I think 7-10 days they dissolve, but it will take longer for the wound to heal completely. At my 6 week appt my doctor said I was healing nicely. I'm 8 1/2 months PP and still have tenderness down there, especially with sex.
- mine took almost 3 weeks. i tore front to back. it was worse then L&D. and im not sure about the other part of your question, i think only your doctor could tell you that one... its not like any of us can see whats going on down there... lol
