Stitches

my first rows of ripple crochet stitches are too tight, the rest are fine. Help?

I started out way too tight on my stitches, and now have loosened up (I'm a beginner). I like the part I've been working on now, but the first 10 - 15 rows are too tight and the whole end of the afghan narrows. Can I undo the beginning and just work backwards some how, or redo the beginning and attach it some how? HELP!

  1. if the beginning of the work is too tight, try to start on a hook about 1 or 2 sizes bigger then after about 2 inches switch back to the recommeneded hook. im sorry but crochet is one way, the only way to fix it would be rip the whole project out to start completely over.
  2. I don't know how you want to do this, cut the stitches or what but you can do it without ripping it all out. I have to have time to explain this to you so don't do anything to it. I will get back to you shortly with an edit and tell you how to do it. EDIT Remove all but 2 rows of the tight stitching. You don't have to unwind what you are removing at this time. Just give yourself two rows to work with before the loose stitching. Now that you have the 8 to 13 tight rows gone start pulling out the first of the two rows. When you get to the second. have your crochet needle and yarn ready as when you are pulling that out do a single chain in each of the stitches that will come loose. This will secure the bottom of your afghan. Now you can continue with the rest of your afghan and unravel the yarn on the part you have removed to be used later on the afghan. Does this make sense to you as I am visualizing what I would do and save time and tears. If you have a problem with this or anything else e-mail me.
