  1. Let her sleep, she is probably sore. Also, make sure she does not run around too much, you do NOT want her breaking those stitches. She should bounce back on her own.
  2. I would call the vet! A dog has a higher tolerance for pain and should pretty much be normal once anesthesia has worn of. I had 3 dogs spayed about a month ago and my only problem was keeping them from not jumping, playing and acting "normal". If the dog is staggering I urge you to call the vet at once! Also, if all is okay and she becomes hyper, I suggest crating her to keep her from hurting herself. If you do not have a crate, I suggest placing her in a small area where she cannot jump. Good luck
  3. If the dog is stumbling around and it's been over 24 hours since it came home, call the vet. It may be having a reaction to the anesthesia. Otherwise make sure she has a safe place to rest and plenty of water. Offer her food at regular feeding times, but don't freak out if she doesn't seem hungry. Dogs are "den" animals so she may want to hide in a warm dark place. As long as she can't reach her stitches, she will be fine. Remember to call the vet and find out when they want the stitches to come out. ( usually free, included with the charge for the surgery)
  4. what do you mean? Your son's dog shouldnt' need any special care. Just keep an eye on the sutures that they are not red or have any odor. keep play to a minimum until the sutures are removed. Is your son going to be able to take care of a dog? Doesn't sound like your son is able to care for a dog at this time
  5. Definitely let them sleep. Baby them. Bring her some water, right up to her nose, and let her drink a little. But not too much! That will make her sick.
  6. When i had my Lab spayed she was pretty docile for about 3 days, then it was a battle keeping her calm.Keep her calm and try to keep her from jumping on or off things. An important thing to do is keep a close eye on the incision. If you notice any increased swelling, redness, puss,or small red pimple like spots starting to appear around the site, take her back to the vet. These are all signs of an incision or stitch line infection. If she is still woozy after a day or two call your Vet and let him know what is going on.He will tell you what needs to be done.
