1. err, I'm not sure that crochet is the correct term. Isn't this really embroidery, like cross stitch, what you want? Unless, you are crocheting a blanket and want to crochet a baby doll as part of the pattern. In that case, it really is just a matter of joining in the wool for the doll at the right place in each row of crochet. You would need to have your doll pattern listed as so many stiches on what colour in each row.

3. Wow! Thanks for the memory! My mother had a pattern for this years (20+) ago! No clue as to where she got it or what happened to it, though. And no real idea of where you can find one today. I'll try to remember to ask my co-worker if she has any ideas.
