Can my girlfriend get medical care?
My girlfriend is visting the me in the UK from sweden and while she is here she will need some stitches removed. Do I have to do anything to ensure she recieves free medical care to remove the stitches while she is here? I know theres an EU health insurance card but that is intended to cover you if you fall ill or injure yourself. Since she has prior knowlege that she will require medical care when she is here i'm not sure this will be covered. As for doing it myself, thats what she wants me to do. I dont really want to.

- sweden is part of the eu so all she needs is a european health insurance card. which you can get for free
- In Ireland there is a form called the E111 that you can bring with you to other countries, there is probably an equivalent in Sweden available. She should contact the health board in Sweden to find out more.
- your local nurse at your gps can deal with this for you - contact them now and see what forms if any you have to have filled in.
- 1 bottle of rubbing alcohol 1 set of nail clippers 1 tweezer sterilize the clippers, the tweezers, and the cut area. clip the stitches and pull with the tweezers. repeat until finished. this is all the doctor is going to do and you can get it done pretty much for free...
