I want to learn how to crochet?
I don't know anyone who can teach me how to crochet. I really want to learn. I want to make some cute hats for my daughter. Is it easy? Can I teach myself? What are the basics? What do I need? Thanks!!

- I never learned how to crochet, but you can go to craft stores like michael's or joan's and buy the books. there are like a million books on crocheting! hope this helped!
- Crocheting is very easy. If you go to a crafts shop, you should be able to find everything you need. They will have the crochet hooks and the yarn and they should have pattern books that tell you exactly how to do it. Good luck and have fun.
- There is a kit that is very good. I have listed a link to it on ebay for you. You can also go to about.com. I will give you a link to there crochet section to. Good luck and happy stitching.
- it is quite easy (I'm a guy, not gay, but my mom wanted to teach me everything. btw i'm a great cook i am told). all it is, is a combination of knots. there should be a local community college in your area that will have classes that can teach you this relaxing hobby for $25.00 or less or find a club in your area (try craigslist.com). good luck.
- Ok crochet-ing is SUPER easy I don't know if you can teach yourself it is positively easier than knitting, but there are many techniques, so i suggest a book not a hard complicated one. you need a few different sizes of crochet hook and some easy to work with yarn. try this website for videos http://www.nexstitch.com/v_chain_stitch.html
- The basics for crochet are hooks (make sure you have the right size), yarn, and a yarn needle to weave the ends in when you are done. It's important to make sure you have enough yarn too. (Most hats wouldn't require a lot of yarn, but if you decide to make an afghan later, those require several skeins.) When I learned to crochet, I learned with a bigger hook so I could see my stitches easier. Crochet is very easy. You can teach yourself. I learned to crochet about 18 months ago, but I had wanted to learn for years. I only ever had one person try and teach me, and at the time, I just wasn't getting it. So I got a knitting DVD from the library and it had crochet instructions on it! It was the best resource I could have asked for and I haven't put down a hook since. Soooo, if you are like me, you have to actually see it done to know how they do it. For this I recommend you watch some videos on the internet. Here are some links: YouTube is probably the best resource for a beginner. Here are some of the videos that are available. There are many more available if you just do a search for what you need. http://youtube.com/view_play_list?p=FFF15236A0B97605 This covers all the basics, but the videos aren't very long. http://www.nexstitch.com/v_crochet_videos.html Refer to this one if you need help with more complex stitches. http://www.freepatterns.com/content/content.html?cat_id=2&type_id=S These sites have some great tutorials, but there are no videos: http://crochet.about.com/od/learnbasics/a/beginners.htm http://www.crochetcabana.com/tutorials/index.htm I don't know how old your daughter is, but here are some links that should have patterns for hats: http://www.crochetcabana.com/patterns.htm (Scroll down to where it says "hats". There are only five patterns.) http://www.crochetpatterncentral.com/directory.php There is a section for hats, but you also might have to look under Baby crochet or in other areas to find more. You can also do a search on the site for hats. http://www.coatsandclark.com/Crafts/Crochet/Projects/Coats+and+Clark+Free+Crochet+Projects.htm Here are some YouTube videos on making hats. I haven't watched them, so I don't know how good they are, but you might find them helpful. http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=crochet+hat&search_type= ~Happy Crocheting!~
