- happens to me too good questoin
- easy, drink water throughout your run, and when you get a stitch, dont bend over, keep your body straight to allow more air to go through
- your muscles are releasing lactic acid in order to prevent poisoning from the buildup of adrenaline and other chemicals produced when you push your body try starting off slow and then building up speed gradually.its also good to warm up your muscles before you begin to run
- Before I start running, I take very deep breaths and hold them, while sort of pushing my diaphragm in and out, and then release the breath slowly. I do about 10 of these. This has helped me tremendously with the stitch in my side.
- The reason that hapen to you is because when you run you move. that make your guts to move. you should never drink any thing befor or wile you run.I have the same problems
- you need to get into shape, and practice your breathing try running every morning for 30 minutes- u will see a difference in your stamina by the 3rd (!) day. sometimes when u get a stich, you will often hold your breath while running, to lower the pain. this is NOT a good idea- its your breathing pace thats responsible for the stitch in the first place. when you start your run, take deep, rythmetic breaths (eg: to steps inhale, to steps exhale, or whatever works for you.) listen to what your body is trying to tell you. if you are a smoker, try cutting down a bit. when u get a stitch, slow down but keep running. this is crucial. if you cant run, slow down to a jog, or even a fast walk. walk it off for a bit, catch your breath, and slowly speed back up. massaging the stitch can help, too good luck!
- It's claimed that a stitch is always from lack of conditioning. I happen not to believe this. I'd always get a stitch if I had anything in my stomach...so I asked a sports medicine Dr. The prevailing theory, is that the stitch (merely a muscle spasm) is due to the blood being diverted to digestive organs. I believe this explanation. Guaranteed that if you run after fasting, (ie food and water), you'll never get a stitch.
- Well, stitching is caused by spasms of the diaphragm. A very good way to stop stitching is to EXhale as your left foot lands. Keep your breathing steady and deep, and you should be fine.
