How do you remove embroidery stitches?

I have some small logos on garments which are embroidered on the garment and I was wondering if they could be removed without hurting the garment.

1. depending on the fabric, it could leave little holes in the fabric
2. If it's machine emboidery, it will VERY difficult to remove without cutting into the fabric. Otherwise, you will have a "shadow" wear the logo once was.
