Stitches

How long does it take for the stitches to dissolve if you tore during delivery?

I was told by the doctor it would take a couple of weeks and the stitches would disolve. I gave birth three weeks ago and feel mostly healed, but the stitches are still intact. Does any one know how long it can take for them to disolve?

  1. 2 weeks (around)
  2. I think its 4-6 weeks if I remember correctly. I only had stitches with my son and I have had 2 daughters since then!
  3. i had some too. i think it was around 6 weeks or so. i remember thinking they should be dissolved then reached down and could feel a knot that was tied.
  4. you need to let your doctor know that they haven't completely dissolved yet not us
  5. Just like it takes your body about 6 weeks to heal, it'll take about that long for the stitches to dissolve, too. Sometimes not quite that long, it just depends on your body. Congrats on the new baby!!
  6. I was told a couple of weeks as well when I had my now 4 month old daughter but it took 5-6 weeks
