  1. i learned knitting at ten, but i learned cross stitch at 9, my piano teacher taught me
  2. I did my first embroidery at age 10. Learned to knit and crochet in highschool...probably 15.
  3. I was six. I can do embroidery and cross stitch....satin stitch, back stitch, daisy chain, etc. If fact, I did some cross stitch this afternoon! I'm 30 and I love it!
  4. I learned at the age of five--my mom got tired (I guess) of making my dolly's clothes so she taught me. They fell apart after two or three wearings but after I became a teenager, I took to it like the proverbial duck to water, I am now in the process of starting my own crafts business for to sell at shows, word of mouth and on-line. Did I win the tenner? Am I the youngest? Huh? Huh? Did I win?? Awwww....come on...pick me!! Pick me!! (Look at it this way, if you pick me, I'll stop all this bloody whining.)
  5. Hi, I was in fourth grade the first time I started an afghan in single stitch. I didn't pick up a hook again until I was 36. I taught myself to knit at age 40, this Jan. 07. :)
  6. I learned to crochet at the age of 11. At this camp I did.
  7. my great-aunt taught me how to knit when i was 12, but i sucked at it and stopped. last christmas, at 32, i started knitting again for some reason and now i'm good at it.
  8. I haven't learned to knit yet, I haven't been quite as interested lately because school just let out. But, I learned how to crochet when I was 10, I saw someone crochet and I taught myself how. I learned how to embroider when I was 11, my grandma taught me how. & I've picked up on sewing ever since I was 10 or 11, I was never really interested in it, because I obviously couldn't have a real sewing machine when I was that old. What about you? :]
  9. i learned counted cross stitch and crochet at an early age but knitting? about 2 years ago

  12. I have always seen people knitting.. my great grandma (mom's side) knit me doll blankets (I got the one that was on her needles when she passed away) and my dad (his mom taught him to knit, but she passed away right after I was born) knit my siblings and I baby blankets and Christmas stockings. My grandma (on my mom's side) was always knitting a dishcloth or afghan as well. As for me I begged my dad to teach me when I was like 8, got about 7" into a scarf and gave up. Ten years later I picked it up again and knit my boyfriend a scarf for Christmas and have been hooked ever since. I really want to learn to crochet, but I just don't understand it from the book. I'll have to have my aunt teach me, haha.

  16. I learned to knit when I was seven - I will be 46 this summer! I also love to quilt (about 18 years) and spin (about 8 years), my mother crochets and taught me about the same time that my grandmother taught me to knit. I think that I have tried every craft that requires a needle!!
  17. I first learned to crochet when I was about 10 but I didn't do anything with it. I picked up knitting and crocheting again at the age of 40...when I was an expectant grandmother!
  18. I started to crochet when I was about 5, started to design when I was 15 and taught leasons whant I was 17. I taught myself to knit about a year ago while I was in the hospital. I have already started giving leasons.
  19. I was 23- about a year ago when I learned to knit. My first project was a pair of little garter stitch slippers for a baby. I have fallen in love with knitting, especially knitting baby items for all my friends and family's babies. Probably because the projects are too cute and they work up so quickly. In the past year I have made the slippers, 2 teddy bears, 3 pair of baby booties, a baby poncho, a long sleeve shrug for my sister, and of course a scarf or ten. I am planning on attempting my first crochet project in the next couple of weeks. There are just too many beautiful crochet patterns for me to pass up!
