what happens if you never remove stitches?

there are three on the back of my hand...im planning on taking them out after 10 days, but i was just wondering what would happen if I never took them out? (not that i'm thinking about leaving them in or anything...that can't be good for u lol)

1. It depends on the stitches some of them go away or fade but some cause infection I would reccomend that you take them off Im Pretty sure Its a free service!
2. They would become infected causing great pain when removed, the dr's left a stich in my stomach accidently and having it removed was the worst pain I have ever experienced. I am glad you are planning to have them taken out.
3. they will grow into your skin and can get really infected and if you leave them in too long they will be painful to remove. It is really easy to take them out though, just cut the stitch right by the knot, grab the knot with tweezers and gently pull the loose end through. The stitch will slide right out it should not hurt, at least not more than a tiny pinch.
4. Once that area heals and becomes strong it treats the stitches like a sliver in your finger. Realizeing that it is foreign material and it gets puss and trys to expell it and once it heals if you leave the stitches in there it will keep doing that until you finally take them out. that is why it is not to good to put stitches in animals and they get away from us and we don't remove them. You set them up to have sores perpetually. Until they get them out.
5. I had a stitch left in accidentally and it got infected !!!!
6. Your skin would grow around it and could potentially be infected. Dont try it.
7. The skin would start to grow over them, they would become red and painful, and get infected.
