How many stitches do I add to increase pattern?

I've got a new baby hat pattern I'm working. It calls for Lion's Pride Worsted yarn that gets 4.5 st to an inch, but I'm using Zara Filatura extra fine (it's a merino wool), about 6 st to an inch. My question is, how many stitches do I need to cast on if the original pattern calls for 224? I need to make sure the baby's head fits into this hat!

1. I would take the yarn back and buy the proper weight. Adding stitches can be very complicated when it comes to increasing and decreasing as the pattern calls for. The other, less correct answer, is to increase the size of your needles to achieve the proper guage. This would keep the pattern correctly.
