On needlework, how to you put the design on the sewing fabric?

I got a baby duck with birhdate and name to be cross stitched on to fabric. How do you trace or transfer the duck picture to the cloth? Thank you.

1. There might be something a little more "up to date" these days, but I usually just use plain carbon paper like they used to make typewritten copies of documents. Just go slowly and lightly. The pattern hand washed out later after stitching. I hope you can find something that works!
2. You can try stenciling it with carbon paper or at the fabric store they might have the transferrable iron on where you can draw design and then iron on to material.
