Is there any publication on where "sayings" came from....like "A stitch in time saves nine"?
Famous sayings are common and I suspect their history is interesting. Where did they come from: Such as: What goes around comes around. Fair to middlin. He who laughs last laughs loudest. The pot calling the kettle black. Mad as a hatter A chip off of the old block Other sayings, or books of sayings - do such exist?
