Stitches

How do I remove the stitches from the shoulder of my new suit?

I've just bought a nice new Ted Baker suit and it has some stitching along the shoulder that needs removing - how do I do this neatly, quickly (I've got a meeting!) and without damaging the suit? Help! So where do I make the cut then? I'm thinking of leaving it in until I can get a professional to do it!

  1. There's a little thing called a seam ripper, it's made for this particular application. You can get them in most sewing sections of grocery/drug stores for a buck or two. It's a little U shaped metal piece with a pointed edge on a little handle. If you don't have time for that, try an exacto knife, but be extremely careful because it's easy to tear/cut the fabric with those. Theres likely a half inch or so of backstitching as well, where there's 2 or 3 layers of stitching overlaping eachother on the little part where the stitching was started and ended,so be very delicate there. also, I hope you're positive those stitches arn't holding anything together! sometimes they hold pockets or interfacing underneath the lining where you can't see.
