Photo to cross stitch chart conversion?
Has anyone done one of these in the past. Which company or software did you use? What count of fabric did you stitch it on and how many colours of thread were used in the design. Interested in any views you have on this subject thanks.

- I used one, I wish I could remember what it's called. All I know is that it was freeware I downloaded from somewhere.
- If you are willing to pay a fee for the job, I can recommend 2 companies that can do a great job of converting your photo into a cross stitch pattern. They will also tell you what materials and colors to use as well as all other related matters. There are a lot of companies doing this service but the reason I recommend these 2 is because of the great job they do with the details and colors to make the pattern as close to the photo as possible. And best of all, you will not need to do backstitching and fractional stitches...everything is done in whole cross stitches. Here are the links: Artecy Cross Stitch - http://www.artecy.com/photo-to-chart.html Golden Kite Advance X-Stitch - http://www.goldenkite.com/e107_plugins/content/content.php?content.20 Hope these will help you. Goodluck!
- I use a program by Jane Greenoff called crossstitch designer. You can choose your fabric, number of colours and count of fabric. I havent used it to do photos yet but I have done a couple of large designs of my own and it works great for me!
- I have used the Jane Greehof programme - don't forget to reduce the colours to a manageable number - otherwise the pictures look lovely but take far too much time and money. These worked very well for me. If you use your own photographs you can sell the picture when finished too. You can increase and reduce the number of colours. You can also edit out areas that you don't want and move parts of he design as far as I remembe it but I last used it over six years ago as I am making greetings cards from bits and pieces these days.
