Stitches after baby delivery ?
I gave birth to my son on jan 12. I did it all naturally. My stitches are still in. They hurt if I am sitting for long periods of time, I am still using the water bottle when i go pee, and of corse can't ware tight clothing. How long should the stitches stay in. Is it normal if they are still in. Should I go to the doctors before my six week check up? "feb 25"

- I think mine were gone around 4 or 5 weeks afterwards. I only had 7 though, and I didn't check or anything. They only really bothered me for the first 2 or 3 weeks. I found that leaning while sitting helped quite a bit.
- I had about 5 stitches and they dissolved after a week or so. I wouldn't worry about it until you see your doctor at 6 weeks. It takes some people longer to heal than others.
- Most doctors use dissolving ones. You so you don't have to get them removed. Typically stitches come out in two week for most things. So if they didn't tell you to make an appointment there probably dissolving ones.
- I would. I would thin that they would be gone by now. Have you tried Tucks pads, they help some , but I would call the doc. at least jus tto ask
- no...i had a natural vaginal delivery too and i had an episiotomy so i had the stitches and they fell out within a few weeks. they were deff gone before my 6 week tho. just keep using the bottle, (its a royal pain in the a**)literally. lol. and im sure everything is fine just wait for your appt.
- Mine hurt for a solid three weeks, and I only had two slight tears, so if you had more it might still hurt, but it doesn't hurt to call the doctor's office and ask. I believe they dissolve on their own. Congrats by the way!
- my stiches from my cesearean are still in. its only been 8 days though. i cant walk veyr well and i am on doctors orders bed rest for the next 2 weeks. my 2 other daughters have moved into my bed for it as chris is gone with work. call ur doctors and ask when u need to have you stitches taken out. ive been told i'll get mien checked at my six week checkup and then taken out after 8 weeks. then ill have another 3 weeks to recover properly and everythign before i can take my girls home
- I had stitches from a natural birth too, and it took around 6 to 8 weeks for the last ones to dissolve. The pain started to ease around the same time. Every woman heals/feels differently though, so hang in there! Here are some tips: - Tucks, as someone mentioned, but keep them in the fridge, it'll make them feel even better. - If you have a boppy pillow for breastfeeding, use it to sit on when you aren't using it otherwise. The hole in the middle is great for that! - Freeze a little bit of water in a platic bag so it's flat, and wrap it in a kitchen towel for sitting on or relief. Before you go to doc, give them a call. They can assess if you need to come in, over the phone sometimes. Congrats and hang in there mommy, it gets better!
