- I am looking into PC Stitch myself. Here's the link: http://www.pcstitch.com/ If you do purchase it, let me know how it is.
- http://www.pcstitch.com i was able to download a program on my comp without paying for anything
- There are two decent programs that I know of. One is PCStitch and the other is Pattern Maker. I have only tried the demo version of both of the basic versions. Both companies have a profession and basic programs. Which one you decide to use depends on your budget and what kind of patterns you want to create. I liked Pattern Maker better then I did PCStitch, the color matching and best fit option when importing a picture seemed to be better. Try out the demos yourself to help you decide. Note: I have also heard that some people make their own patterns just using Paint Shop Pro, but it's really tedious to do.
- I have used both PCStitch and Patternmaker. I like to convert landscape or art images into charts. I like Pattermaker better because it does a much better job of converting the image to a chart that looks like the source image. A manual is available to download for Patternmaker, not yet for PCStitch. PCStitch tech support told me that they are working on tutorials for their website, but that was over a year ago and I have not seen it yet. If your work is not very detailed, PCStitch might be better because the interface for working on filling in a drawing is better by a bit than the interface in Patternmaker. PCStitch is used more for patterns on the web, but most are read-only, so the free reader will be OK. There may be some issues with having both PM and PCS reader as old PM files have the same .pat extension for project file names as PCS. Sometimes my computer assigns the wrong file type to downloaded files and I have a hard time changing that so I can open the file.
