Do people in Brasil knit or crochet?

Asking because knitting and crochet are such popular crafts today, but I never came accross knitting or crochet patterns from Brasil. I'm most familiar with English, American, Australian and French knitware designs-and they are all different- and I wonder what original Brasilian designs are like. I'm especially interested in Baby garments.

Public Comments

  1. They aren't allowed to knit or crochet baby clothes in Brazil. It's against the law.
  2. All such endeavors at diversion is illegal in Brazil. The only permissible diversions are soccer, fishing, and canoe racing on the Amazon River.
  3. i think they do both. the aztecs did..and they weave as well.
  4. Have you ever tried to knit or crochet a thong?
  5. Dont know but they spell it BRAZIL
  6. First couple of answers are a bit wrong. The one about spelling is entirely wrong! WE spell it Brazil. YOU were using the Brazilian spelling BRASIL. As to knitting - I don't think there would be much call for woollen goods there and at the beginning of this year when I was there for 2 months I saw no knitting. However they do crochet and other sewing crafts.
