crochet thread help[?
I have these crochet balls (brand 'Cannon' and 'Monaco') that I want to use. Problem is, there's no indication if it's fine or worsted weight or what size it is. Here's what it says: Cannon Crochet 100% Cotton Ticket 8 175 metres And that's all!!! The only thing aside from those is the dyelot no. &shd no. Can someone point me to a site where there are pictures of the different kinds of crochet thread? Thanks!!oh, and if it helps, the label says my thread is mercerised, whatever that means.

- The size of the thread is 8. The categories like fine, worsted weight, and super bulky are for yarn, not thread.
- Normally, crochet thread is mostly Size 10, or bedspread, as it is also known. For Monaco Thread check this site out: http://crochetthreadsandmore.blogspot.com/2006/01/monaco-cotton-threads-and-shipping.html Here's a page that has info about Cannon: http://mimi.csa.googlepages.com/cottonthreads http://www.nationalbookstore.com/shop/products.asp?merchant_code=NBS&categ=297&product=13878 And yes, Cannon is apparently Size 8 thread, but check your gauge before you start a project. Now, THIS SITE here has tons of thread AND yarn: http://www.herrschners.com/default.aspx (their thread) http://www.herrschners.com/depts/id-1954.html so does Moda Dea: http://www.modadea.com/index.htm Hope this helps!
- You've got mercerized cotton thread....its thinner than baby yarn, but thicker than crochet thread. I've found it best to physically visit a store to compare the unknown thread to ones they have in stock, then you'll be better prepared to purchase. *Also, its much cheaper to buy in store than online for Joann.com and other yarn websites.
