Can i use crochet cotton thread as wicks for my homemade candles?

1. Never ever thread is far too delicate
2. I have thought using that too. But apparently the string used for candles are treated somehow so they burn slowly and I was told to only use candle wicking and nothing else.
3. No, they wouldn't burn right.
4. NO! very flammable
