What is a suitable crochet thread for the equivalent of 2 strands of 3ply wool twisted together?
I am a complete beginner and this is what the simple pattern says I should use - using a size 10 hook.

- Try a 10 or 20 (20 is half the thickness of the 10). Why not use a double knitting WOOL? This would be the thickness you want. Good luck - you'll get HOOKED on it, I'm sure!
- Just use 6 ply wool.
- get some 5 ply and some 8 ply wool and do a test swatch with them (separately) to see which one comes closest to the guage on the pattern you want to do. If none of these work then why not just use the double strands of the 3 ply as the pattern suggests.
- If you want crochet thread look for bedspread cotton. You will probably have to use more that one spool of the thread. Probably two or three strands of the thread, possible more worked together at the same time.
