Would JoAnne's or another fabric store be good to get green screen material? I'm looking for something I can use for a less expensive green screen. I figured I could go to JoAnne's Fabrics or someplace to get something lime green or at least offbeat enough to work for a chroma key. I'm in a hurricane right now so I can't exactly run out to check.

"joann fabrics - have they filed bankruptcy"? I went on a sewing retreat this past weekend, and two people said that Joann Fabrics has filed some type of bankruptcy proceedings. Our Hancock Store is closing and if Joann closes, we will have nothing left but Walmart. Is it true about bankruptcy filing (whether it's Chapter 11 or Chapter 13) about Joanne Fabrics??

What are your cheap/inexpensive ideas for decorating a baby's room? I've personally gone to The Dollar Tree, picked up a few puzzles, glued them together, put them in a frame, and then hand them on the walls for decorations. I bought wooden letters from JoAnne Fabrics, spray painted them a base color, and added my own polka dots of various colors. Personally, I think paint, and few decorations can make a big difference. I've found things at yard sales, thrift stores, and consignment shops that we're inexpensive. Let me hear your ideas.

Where can I buy unique feathers for crafts? I've tried Joanne Fabrics, Michael's & AC Moore but they just don't have enough of a selection. I'd rather not buy offline if I can help it but I don't know where else to look! Where can I find lots of different styles of feathers to use in craft projects?

Where can I buy blocks of memory foam? I am looking for a place where I can buy large pieces of thick memory foam so I can make a mattress for a futon. I don't want to buy a pre-made mattress, I just want to buy bulk blocks of memory foam. Any one know where I can find this? Where is a good place to purchase 12 ounce duck canvas/cloth in various colors? I've found it online for $12.50 a yard delivered...is this a good price? Does anyone know what the weight of the duck that Joanne Fabrics carries? They didn't answer my email I sent inquiring about it. It's only $7.99 a yard. How do I fix a broken bra loop? I just bought a $50 bra from Victoria's Secret not too long ago, and the loop that affixes the convertible strap on the back of the bra has ripped completely apart. I tried pinning it, but the strap won't hold. I went to both Victoria's Secret stores in my area and neither one had replacement loops, nor did JoAnne Fabrics, Michael's, or AC Moore. Does anyone know how to fix this? I would have returned it, but it's too late now and I lost the receipt.

Where can I get the most realistic fake/silk flowers? I live in Maryland and am looking for a supplier of high quality "silk" flowers. They must look as real as possible and have a nice hand. I sell upscale hair flowers and mini hats for weddings and the quality of flower of that I'm able to find around here is horrible. Michael's, A C Moore, Joanne Fabrics..they quality just isn't there. How do you make a rug without sewing anything? Is there any material at like joanne fabric's or anywhere that is like cloth with that shag material, and i could glue it to the netting that is made with a rug. Where can I find large wire storage crates to hold bolts of fabric like they have at Joanne's? My mother makes custom window treatments and has several bolts of fabric. She is looking for a storage solution. At Joanne's they have large wire baskets they use to put the bolts in after they cut the fabric. We have looked every where on the internet for a place to buy these but haven't been able to find them.

Makeshift Photography? I cant really afford new photography things, i have a nice camera (Nikon Coolpix L100) but, i can't afford the good quality things like a good lighting system, or a good backdrop area, but i can afford to go to Lowe's and pick up some lights or go to Joanne fabrics and get some fabric just to tape on the wall. but I'm not quite sure what to get. What to get for two 13 year old girls for their birthday? Two of my best friends are having a shared birthday party tomorrow. The budget is $20 for each girl. They are both turning 13. they both pretty much have everything. They like shopping at brand name stores, like Hollister, Aeropostale, Abercrombie, etc. I will give you a summary about each girl- One girl likes camping and is irish. She is funny, can be sort of loud lol. The other girl is really rich, and has like everything! she is the hardest person to shop for. Both girls really like reading. My mom doesnt want to go shopping at the brand name stores for them tho, money has been pretty tight lately with my family. Are there any places that hire 15 year olds in ct? OK. So I spent all today and yesterday calling different places to see if they are hiring and how old u have to be and everywhere said either 16 or 18. I googled places that will hire 15 year olds and a lot of people said fast food places like McDonald's and Burger King..etc.. but i called and they said that you have to be 16. Selling clothes made by other peoples patterns? Hi there, I've been making my own clothes for awhile now, using patterns that I can buy at places like Wal-Mart or Joanne's Fabrics (so I did not create these patterns). However, recently my friends have been asking where I bought my clothes, and I told them that I had made them and they wanted to know if I could make some and sell them to them (using the patterns that I bought). Would I legally be able to sell these and put my name on them because I made them? Or would I have to make my very own pattern? Thanks.

Okay I just posted this in etiquette section and EVERYONE was on "my side' which almsot never happens in there lol when it comes to my parenting in public questions. anyways, this clerk today at joanne fabric's a fabric/crafts store was helping me with cutting the fabric. She did the price for me and it was high. She said "if you dont want it thats oj' and I said "I do". My daughter had a pee-pee accident when we were in the check-out and I left it there. i came back after getting her into her spare clothes and I decided I would use this a chance to shop for a cheaper better deal of fabric for my box I need for my job. anyways, I came back to the fabric cutting section and the same clerk said to me" what did you do with the other fabric?" no greeting. I said "I left it there at the cashier's" and she said "well you could have brought it back". And I said, "I couldn't bc my daughter had an accident; i couldn't just walk back and give it to you". She didn't say anything. Then the other clerk who measured my box at first "how many yards"? and I said "she (about the other clerk) said 2.5". And she said, "okay, well I'm not going to measure it then too" and she was kind of weird acting too. I said "sorry i'm not that good at measuring" and she said "not all the ppl working in here are either" i'm not sure if she was referencing herself or that clerk. Everyone in etiwuette thought the clerk was incredibly rude (the first one). Now that I think about it, i don't like being talked to like that as she was almost confrontational and I felt like a kid in trouble. She was nice at first though and even complemented my daughter when trying on diff hats. So I'm not sure? I feel like complaining but is it really worth that woman losing her job? I DID work in retail more than 3 yrs so I know how annoying it is when customers don't put stuff back but in this case I really couldn't and even i as a non-mom in retail working understood it then.

looking for easy ways to make my prom dress more my own? okay so, i went to a local consignment shop just for fun and to look around, and i ended up finding the PERFECT dress for my senior prom. i love it and it's beautiful, but i'm wondering if anyone has any ideas of how i can make it more my own. so, it's a floor length ball gown with really thin spaghetti straps. it's iridescent navy blue taffeta. the top is a corset that laces up the back with thin navy blue ribbon (basically the same as the straps). it's pretty plain. the top has some floral-ish embroidery with shiny/sparkly silver thread, but there's no beading or rhinestones or anything. i'd really like to add some sparkle to it...but i'm not quite sure how. and i was also thinking of replacing the laces up the back with a different kind of material or a different colored ribbon or something...but again, i'm not sure. i need some ideas, so all are welcome. i'd like to be able to get everything i need at stores like ac moore, michaels, joanne fabric, etc. instructions of what to do would be appreciated too. thanks!

HELP!!! I'm trying to find about 5 yards of a black flowing net overlay fabric. Any ideas? I was placed in a wedding kinda late. (I found out a week ago and the wedding in on 07-07-07) There are 2 problems with me having the same dress as the rest of the bridesmaids...1)They have been discontinued, and 2)I'm pregnant. We found a pattern that will work, and a fabric that will work for the main dress. I have half of a bridesmaids dress (from alterations combining 2 dresses for another bridesmaid) that includes the beading on the overlay. What we're looking for is a fabric that is a fine net and is very flowing. It seems to be fairly common on prom gowns and such, but I can't find it at our local JoAnne's Fabrics. If you know what I'm talking about can you please tell me if it has a particular name? Like what kind of netting it is? Scarf Valance: If I buy from Joanne's, how do I sew? I saw some really pretty scarf valances at Joann's that are the fabric that is sold by the yard. How long to hear back about a job, and where should I apply? Okay. I am 16 years old. My only work experience has been babysitting my niece and nephew, every Friday and Saturday , sometimes Sundays. I did this every weekend for almost 2 years. I have above a 4.0 and I am very responsible. I learn fast. I really would put my every effort into doing a good. job. Of course, I have no other experience because I just turned 16 a month ago. I've been trying to find a job since a week before I turned 16. Basically, I applied to every single store in the mall that would hire at age 16, about 30 stores, just in the mall. Then, I applied to about 6 other restaurants, and Chuck E. Cheese, Barnes and Noble, Joanne's Fabric, and Marshall's, . I applied to McDonald's, Biggby's coffee, and Panera Bread online. I'm going to guesstimate that in all, I called over 200 places to see if they are hiring. I received a call from Chuck E. Cheese immediately, had an interview, was promised a 2nd interview and never heard back. I haven't heard back from anybody. I turned in my applications about 2 weeks ago. I never heard back. I also signed up for SnagAJob and turned in a few applications on there. How long will it take to hear back? Or should I just assume I am not going to get these jobs? I have a list of 55 more places + a couple malls I will try. Where else should I try? How can I make sure I get a job? Am I doing something wrong? Where can I buy Chargers fleece material? I would like to to find a place in either San Diego or Orange county that sells fleece fabric with the SD Chargers logo on it. Where can I buy cheap fabric online without $10+ going towards shipping fees? I've been browsing around for fabric online. The only fabric store I know of in Reno is Joannes and it's pretty expensive. t-shirt material runs between $5 to $10 there, which is ridiculous in my opinion, not to mention specialty fabrics like spandex or silk dupiani, which at Joannes is $10+ a yard, but I find between $4 and $8 online. However, is it worth buying it online if it's going to kick me with $10 shipping fees? Do you know of any online places I can get both simple and specialty fabrics fairly inexpensive without such exuberant costs for shipping fees?

nascar fabric for blanket? I would like to make a tie fleece blanket for my boyfriend for valentines day. I wanted to do one side his favorite nascar driver and the other side plain. Cheap way to make a Batik? Ok, so I was in art class and we had this project to make and it was called a Batik, its a tradtion that Mexicans make for the Day of the Dead holiday. I need to know what kind of fabric to get that would be good and CHEAP to buy at like a JoAnne Fabrics or another craft store. Also a water base paint, that wont soak through, and wont stain clothes. After your done with the painting process, your suppose to let it dry and then soak it in warm water, thats why I need water base paint. So again I need to know.... 1. Cheap fabric for Batik( preferably a stiffer fabric) 2. Brand of water base paint.

Sewing problems? Okay so I got this new sewing machine which was a euro pro. I threaded it and start sewing. The bottom layer of thread kept getting tangled in the fabric and way to much was being pulled out. The upper thread kept breaking so I had to keep re-threading my needle. And my fabric did not seem to glide while sewing it just stayed there and got crampled even when I tried to help it, it did not want to move. So I took it back and got another one. It looked better but the same thing happened. After that I gave up and went to Joanne fabrics and got a singer but it is made the same it works a little better but the fabric still won't move and I broke the needle trying to move it across . The machines all have the side bobbin thingy instead of the one that goes straight down into the machine. I was wondering should I just keep it and work through it because it is a new machine and will need some time to break in or should I send it back and get a machine where the bobbin goes in the middle. I took a sewing class a Joannes and I did not have this problem out of there machines. Should I try a different brand?

Would gray marine vinyl make a good projection screen? went down to Joanne Fabrics to look for this mythical blackout cloth that I have read about... No one around me seems to have it in stock. I really do not want to paint a board an hang it because of the weight and painting is not an option which is why I was looking for black out cloth While I was there I came across some gray marine vinyl... It me to wondering... Would this make a good screen surface. It is already grey.. maybe a tad darker than Behr SS, but appears perfectly neutral gray. There is a texture to it but I could not notice it standing more than oh 6-7 ft back. has anyone else ever used this... I wanted to do some research first as it was $10 a yard. I am pretty cheap. I was also thinking that it would be really easy to clean if necessary as well. The only concern that I would have it if it hotspotted... I think.

Buy fabric and patterns? I'm a cosplayer and I prefer to make my own costumes if possible, but I can never find a place that sells material! The "Rag Shop" near me closed a few years ago, and the "Joanne's" near me recently closed as well. I have no idea where else to go except for one small place that is becoming more of an upholstery store than anything else. I would also like to know if someone knows where I might be able to buy patterns online? Or even a chain store. I thought about "Hobby Lobby", but I don't know where there is one near where I live. How do I fix a broken bra loop? I just bought a $50 bra from Victoria's Secret not too long ago, and the loop that affixes the convertible strap on the back of the bra has ripped completely off. I tried pinning it, but the strap won't hold. I went to both Victoria's Secret stores in my area and neither one had replacement loops, nor did JoAnne Fabrics, Michael's, or AC Moore. Does anyone know how to fix this? I would have returned it, but it's too late now and I lost the receipt.

Fabric dye question...10 pts? ok..i have a wrap dress thats black and i want to dye it another color....is it possible to do that if the fabric of the wrap dress(like most dresses) is not cotton. i think its like 95% rayon 10% spandex. I was thinking to do it with dylon dye,because i live near a joanne's fabric....but i dunno what i should do to get it another color.
