How are the sewing classes at JoAnn Fabrics? I would like to take beginner's sewing classes. I'm fairly crafty and love to knit, and wanted to learn how to make my own window treatments and pillow cases, fairly simple things, and eventually move on to things like quilts and clothes. I do not know how to sew at all and was looking at JoAnn Fabrics' classes. I was curious if anyone had ever taken them and had any input on them. Additionally, if anyone knows of any places that offer sewing classes in the southwest suburbs of Chicago that would be great.... preferably in Orland Park or surrounding areas.
Why aren't Joann Fabrics fat quarters available in larger bolts? I keep finding these quarters in prints that I love at Joann's only to find that they aren't available in longer lengths. I asked a couple workers and they had no idea why they weren't available in bolt lengths. Does anybody know why they don't carry the longer sides and where I might find their distributor? Thanks in advance.
Are there any fabric stores in Denver besides Hancock and Joann fabrics? I need about 2 yds of upholstery fabric and when I try to order, it's no longer being made when I special order. The remnants aren't much to choose from in the stores, either. Thanks.

Who designs the fabrics for Joann Fabrics? There are fabrics available at Joann Fabrics that say on them they are exclusively designed for and sold at Joann's, so who designs them? Does Joann's have an in-house design team, or do they work with freelance designers for their fabric patterns?
What are the usual dimensions of fabrics at Joann Fabrics? I usually just go by one measure meant (ex: Just getting 3 feet of this and that, etc, no matter what the other length was) And I've never really taken into account what the other length might be. ^^' I ask this because I need 4 feet by 4 feet of fabric (jut enough to make a cape/robe for my cousin's birthday). thank you for your answers. ^^
Does JoAnn Fabrics still carry Burda patterns? I found one on their website (burda's) I want, but I'm worried I won't be able to find it at JoAnns. I'm also wary of ordering things online. Do they still even have them?

Does anyone know where I can purchase Silk Vision flowers once carried by JoAnn Fabrics? I used to get this brand of flowers from JoAnn's called Silk Vision, and now they only carry a few of them and I can't find the rest of the flowers I need. Does Joann fabrics sell Marfy patterns? Yeah, there were Marfy patterns on the Butterick, Simplicity, and McCall's websites but I couldn't find the Marfy pattern at Joann's. Do they not sell them?

"joann fabrics - have they filed bankruptcy"? I went on a sewing retreat this past weekend, and two people said that Joann Fabrics has filed some type of bankruptcy proceedings. Our Hancock Store is closing and if Joann closes, we will have nothing left but Walmart. Is it true about bankruptcy filing (whether it's Chapter 11 or Chapter 13) about Joanne Fabrics??
JoAnn Fabrics? I'm not sure where to put this question but does anyone know if you can order ribbon at JoAnn's? Like if you bought spools of ribbon that were "buy by the spool" & you need 12 of them, could they order more in for you? JoAnn Fabrics going out of business in Illinois, but where?!? My clothing teacher said that there was one on GOlf Road in Illinois going out of business. Does anyone know where it is at on Golf Road. Joann Fabrics stole from me? To make a very long story short, a manager at Joann's took back fabric I had bought there as a return without a receipt. He printed out a "return w/o receipt" receipt for me stating corporate would refund me for the fabric in 2 weeks. It's been well over 2 weeks, now this manager is nowhere to be found. I've left numerous messages for managers, have sent emails, called corporate....if I have been able to reach a live person, they say, "Our hands are tied, there's nothing we can do." I have asked for the merchandise back since they obviously don't plan to refund me - ever. They refuse to give it back but won't admit that this is otherwise STEALING. I am just wondering what recourse I have. I am so frustrated and I can't believe they are getting away with this. What to do next? No one will give me a phone number for a regional/district manager and they just give me a useless 800 number. Help? (They owe me $160 which is a big chunk of change for me).
What does "online only" mean at joann fabric and craft store's website? I want to get these crystal ice crochet hooks at joanns and I am going there today but it said online only? Does that mean I can only get it online or thats the price online?
How many Joann Fabric's coupon can be used at once? I have a whole bunch of Joann's coupons- some are 40% off any one regular-priced fabric, some are 50% off any one regular-priced item-but they all say "limit one coupon per regular priced item. Cannot be combined with any other discount or coupon." Does that mean I can only use one coupon for my entire purchase or that I can only use one coupon per item I buy?

Frame shop vs. Michael's or JoAnn's for original oils? I want to enter a local rinky dink art show with a couple of my landscape oil paintings. I am wondering if I am better off going to a local frame shop, or better off using a 50% off coupon at Michael's or Joann Fabrics. What is the best fabric paint to use? I really want to get my own fabric paints to do my own t-shirts. I took a class at my school where we made t-shirts, and my teacher said the type that she uses lasts really long, and all you have to do is paint it on and then iron the other side and it'll stick. I'm not sure what brand that was, but is there any good fabric paints that lasts long? Also if you could tell me if it was sold at like a Micheal's or Joann Fabrics, or Craft Warehouse, that would be nice too.

I've never had a job so I don't really know what orientation is but are you supposed to dress for work when you go there? where can I find decorative braid? I purchased trimming braid from a Company called Home -Sew. I used the 25 yds I ordered and ran out. I need about another 5-10 yds. Where can I buy arts and craft supplies in Puerto Rico? I have been living in Old San Juan for over a year. I moved from the U.S. for work. Since I have been here I haven't found any arts and craft stores similar to JoAnn Fabrics or Michael's. Do they even exist on this island? If so, where can I find them? where can I find edible black pearl dust? Michael's has the luster dusts in all kinds of colors but black isn't one of them! I went to JoAnn Fabrics and their selection was less than Michaels. Need advice on buying art supplies for the first time! and which is more expensive: Joann's or Michael's? I am a high school student, and I want to expand my art portfolio before i go into art three next year. I want to buy some acrylic paints (possibly liquitex Basics brand) a set of paintbrushes in different sizes, and a canvas. I have about a 40$ budget, any suggestions for acrylic paint brands? What's the better idea for a 7yr.old girls birthday party? I'm debating between a bowling party or a craft party at Joann Fabrics or Michaels. For the craft party I can choose between cupcakes (they decorate their own), sew and dress,etc. a small stuffed bear or frog. They're both age appropriate. Cute gift ideas for Seniors, something small? It's tradition for the underclassmen on our cheerleading team to give the seniors gifts on Senior Night at the banquet after the basketball game. How do I attach my zipper foot to my Singer sewing machine? I'm making one of those cloth children's books filled with batting, and I bought piping to run along the edge of the pages. The employees at Joann Fabric informed me that I need to use a zipper foot if I want to machine sew the piping onto the fabric, so I bought one, but I'm having the darndest time figuring out how to attach it to my machine! Is there a "cheap" way to refelt a pool table and what different materials/fabrics can i use? No one sells felt locally - Joann Fabrics has felt that will fit, but the problem is that the felt is polyester and not a wool blend. Someone else also recommended velvet. Can I use polyester felt to refelt the table? can I even use velvet?

where can I find parymid studs or rachets to put on a belt that I am making? I tried joann fabrics, and Micheals craft stores and they did not sell the studs alone they sold leather bracelet kits with the studs already attached. I don't mind buying online if someone has a good web address.
Is it possible to buy the crocheted tops for kitchen towels? Apparently you can buy towels that have crocheted tops that then loop around handles (IE oven/cabinet/fridge handles) and button closed. I've found patterns online on how to make the crocheted tops and then attach them to a towel. My co-worker wants to know if there is a place that you can buy the crocheted tops pre-made so that you could sew them to any towel. We've looked online at Joann fabrics with no success.
Can the boning in a corset be replaced with a common item or something found at a local sewing store?
