Hancock Fabrics Preferred Customer Card? I was just wondering... I purchased a fabric in Hancock Fabrics which I would like to return, but I can't find the receipt of the purchase. I bought the item less than 60 days ago so I would get store credit for that fabric, which is totally fine with me, but it would be the lowest price that the fabric was for, within last 30 days. My question is: Do they store information about previous purchases on the Preferred Customer card??? And would it work instead of a receipt, so I could actually get back the same money I paid for the fabric??? Thank you for any answers..

I'm trying to make eyelet curtains but cannot find a store to buy the eyelets? I'm looking to buy some Grommet tape or Solar tape to make eyelet curtains and the Jupiter Rings to finish the look. Hancocks Fabrics closing-which ones? As I have been reading through some of the questions and answers here, I have heard about Hancocks filing for bankruptcy. And, of course, I have been hearing for a while now about Walmart eliminating their fabric dept. Now the fabric dept at my Walmart is extremely busy all the time! My question is, has anyone heard which Hancocks, if any will be closing in the Houston (Texas) and surrounding areas like in Spring or The Woodlands? Where locally can I buy needlepoint canvas? I am trying to make a needlepoint belt, the directions said that you need needlepoint canvas to do so. When I called Hancock fabrics they said that they don't carry needlepoint supplies only cross stitch.... I also called Michaels and they said the same thing. Does anyone know where or what I could use instead? Would a cross stitch canvas work? I would really prefer to not to order it online.

Has Jo-Ann Fabrics gone from Chapter 11 bankrupcty to Chapter 7? I have recently read in the daily local newspaper that Jo-Ann fabrics and Craft stores has gone from Chapter 11 bankrupcty to Chapter 7. After doing research (looking at news, press releases, etc.) I cannot find evidence that this has occured-- much less the fact that Jo-Ann was in bankrupcty to begin with. I have only found such articles on two daily local newspaper that even has that story on it. I'm wondering if these newspapers have Jo-Ann Fabrics confused with Hancock Fabrics (Jo-Ann Fabrics is not the offical name of them Jo-Ann Fabric and crafts is and I know that Hancock was in bankruptcy). I have also aware that Chapter 7 means that the businesses closes immedialty- no liqudation (which the article stated they would cease immedality and begin liqudation. Where is a good place to buy cheap decorator fabrics to make curtains? I don't have a huge budget, we are looking to spend less than $75, but have two big picture windows we need curtains for . Ikea had cute fabrics for cheap, but they aren't available online and the nearest Ikea is over 2 hours away. JoAnns, Hancock Fabrics, all those places are asking a minimum of $17.99 a yard for fabrics that could be used to make curtains. We could buy maybe 4 or 5 yards within our budget. I doubt that would cover two windows that are roughly 60" high and 80" long.

"joann fabrics - have they filed bankruptcy"? I went on a sewing retreat this past weekend, and two people said that Joann Fabrics has filed some type of bankruptcy proceedings. Our Hancock Store is closing and if Joann closes, we will have nothing left but Walmart. Is it true about bankruptcy filing (whether it's Chapter 11 or Chapter 13) about Joanne Fabrics??
I'm looking all over for the netting that Bird cage veils are made out of but can't find any. ideas? I want some ivory netting but not the kind you find in Jo-Anne fabric, Hancocks, etc. I want the stuff that's got larger net. More like is on an old fashioned hat. I think it's usually called French or Rusian veiling. Does any one have any ideas about where to find some?
Is everything that was old new again? I heard two different women say that in Hancock's Fabric Store this afternoon while I was shopping for sewing patterns. I later looked at fabrics and some some prints that reminded me of the 50's and 60's....French textile prints that were popular back then, western prints, muted stripes and prints, and a good selection of other fabrics. There are also "retro" and "vintage" patterns in every pattern book. I am wondering if 50's style appliances and tables will make a return or if the older eras are being promoted by popular movies and tv shows?

Looking for a high quality apparel fabric. Not interested in bridal,satin, or quilting fabric. Looking for suiting, shirting, cotton blends,broadcloth,and linen blends. I belong to several swatch programs offered by online fabric stores but turn around is too long by the time you receive the swatches decide then contact them for purchase. Seems with the re-interest in quilting over the last several years quilting fabrics are the priority in many stores that specialize in quilting including the stores I mentioned earlier. sewing machine question? Hello! I currently have a very old (25+ years) Pfaff machine (given to me as a hand me down by my SIL when she got a new machine). I don't sew a lot - mostly mending and yearly masquerade costumes for my daughter - sometimes house stuff like pillows and simple decorative things. It is for the most part reliable, but it does seem to get out of tune regularly, and of course, in the middle of a time deadline project right now, it chooses to start skipping stitches big time. The estimates to repair it were coming in at over $100, and the time to do it at over a week, so I started thinking it might be worth it to just get a new machine. I went online, and read comments, and it seems like a lot of the new machines are cheap plastic, and not sturdy, and not capable of handling heavy fabrics, which I sometimes deal with. Lucky me, my friend hooked me up with a fellow who visits Hancock fabric stores and fixes machines on the spot, so I am hopeful this immediate issue will be resolved in time to get this current project done, but I am thinking long term. I am wondering: 1) Are Pfaff machines tempermental? 2) Are there any good new machines that don't cost big bucks? 3) Am I better off sticking with what I have and just doing regular tuneups? Thank you for any advice! Added 7/22/09 - Wow - thanks so much for all the great info and advice. FWIW, please understand I am not a professional seamstress, nor even an avid sewing enthusiast, but then neither am I a totally inexperienced hack. I do understand tension adjustments, correct needle insertion, and different needle types. Also FWIW, my grandmother and great aunt both worked in the NYC garment district in the early 1900's, my mom sewed all my and her clothes on a treadle machine, and I learned to sew from her and home ec class in the 1970's. I will admit to not keeping the machine as clean as I should, it is in a cabinet, but I usually keep it upright and not down in the cabinet and it does get dusty, so a good cleaning is good advice. And, I am old enough that I appreciate the fact that more fancy features means more things to break down, so I prefer simple non-electronic machines, which is what I have. Plastic is not a bad thing, but it seems more prone to breakage - especially small parts.

I'm not allowed to buy anything on the internet cause of my parents, and Hancock fabrics is pretty far for me, but I was making a fursuit and I need faux fur and before I rush off to the store I need to figure out which store has the best selection. Sewing Machines, what to choose? For Valentine's Day my husband is letting me pick out a new sewing machine. I have a Brother and I hate it. It jams up constantly, tension has never been able to be set, drops stitches, and my sister and mother don't have any luck with theirs either. Well he is allowing me to spend $300 on a new one. Janome has one I like, but I have never dealt with them. They have one on overstock as a refurb ($200), then Hancock Fabrics has a new one for $250. They have the same warranty (25 years), but the refurb has twice as many stitches. My question is has anyone owned a Janome, and should I go for the new one or the refurb? If you had a bad experience with that brand, which one would you recommend? I need something that can withstand heavy fabrics and a good amount of use, I do use my sewing machine to make money. I learned to sew clothing on a early 70's Kenmore, and I learned to do upholstery on a antique Singer
If you work with people, whats your best angry customer story? I had a woman come into my work today (hancock fabrics) and she was taking up a cutting table trying to figure something out...which we needed, so when I asked her to move and pointed her towards a table in the back, she threw a fgit complaining 'she always gets treated poorly at this store' and then proceeded to tell me to lose weight. I'm 5'10 and 155 pounds...I can't lose much without looking sickly...and I happen to like my body. I told her she's just jealous I have boobs. ( I know very mature of me.) :D
is it okay to lie about a previous job during an interview? i worked at goodwill for a year and i don't have a problem using that as a refrence.. but after that, i worked at hancock fabrics for a month and i didn't like it very much. is it okay to lie and say i didn't work after goodwill? i'm only 16 so it's not a hard thing to believe.. but i'm not sure. is it okay to say i have been unemployed for a month and just started looking for a job..? job applications never ask for ALL jobs.. all it says is 'previous history of employement' [usually..] anndddd, no =] there was nothing wrong with it, nothing to hide about hancocks.. i just didn't like it. very boring job. but i don't awnt to seem immature and admit to it taht's all.
Sewing Machines, Which to choose, what to look for? For Valentine's Day my husband is letting me pick out a new sewing machine. I have a Brother and I hate it. It jams up constantly, tension has never been able to be set, drops stitches, and my sister and mother don't have any luck with theirs either. Well he is allowing me to spend $300 on a new one. Janome has one I like, but I have never dealt with them. They have one on overstock as a refurb ($200), then Hancock Fabrics has a new one for $250. They have the same warranty (25 years), but the refurb has twice as many stitches. My question is has anyone owned a Janome, and should I go for the new one or the refurb? If you had a bad experience with that brand, which one would you recommend?
Raleigh NC high quality fabric stores for women's apparel (or Cary, Apex, Chapel Hill, Triangle area)? I've moved here from Dallas and have been looking for a high quality fabric store for women's GARMENT fabric. I'm looking for a store with fabrics that are typically finer than those carried by JoAnn or Hancock. Dallas had many fine fabric stores and I'm at a loss here. I'm looking for good quality rayons, silks, linens, fine cottons, light weight wools etc. Aren't there any independent fabric stores that offer unique sewing fabrics for women's apparel? HELP!!! Maybe in Cary, Chapel Hill, Apex?? I will really appreciate any help on this!
Superhero fabric???? I am doing a community service project with my high school's FCCLA. We are looking for superhero fabric. Fabric with like superman,spiderman, or batman on it. Does anyone know of any good websites that you can buy fabric from, especially superhero fabric ?? We have tried Hancock and Joann and they both do dont have any.
Fabric stores in Northern NJ (Bergen Co.)? I just moved here and I want to go to a fabric store but there are none around - before you tell me to search for Joanne's - there isn't one close - Staten Is. is the closest. Even the local Wal Mart doesn't sell fabric. No Hobby Lobby or Hancock's either...any suggestions???? I need a good local shop with all types of fabric by the yard.

has anyone found nhl fleece? I'm looking to make a Blackhawks fleece blanket for someone and I cannot find any NHL licensed fabric anywhere. I'm convinced it does not exist. Pre-teen swimsuit needs padding? My preteen daughter is still wearing girls size swimsuits, but needs a little more coverage in the top. I don't want a lot of padding, like the formed bras I find at the fabric store, but do want to keep her modesty and cover any nips (and she wants a little "oomph"). Any suggestions on what type of padding to insert into the lining as well as where to find it? I've struck out at Hancock's and Wal-Mart. Thanks!
Don't Know who makes these sweatshirts!?!?!? Hey I'm looking for these sweatshirts/hoodies that are made of this fabric that looks really cheap and can't remember who makes them. Most of them are 1 color base but parts have a lighter or darker shade. I think Will Smith wears a blue one in Hancock. Thanks.
