JoAnn Fabrics? I'm not sure where to put this question but does anyone know if you can order ribbon at JoAnn's? Like if you bought spools of ribbon that were "buy by the spool" & you need 12 of them, could they order more in for you? How are the sewing classes at JoAnn Fabrics? I would like to take beginner's sewing classes. I'm fairly crafty and love to knit, and wanted to learn how to make my own window treatments and pillow cases, fairly simple things, and eventually move on to things like quilts and clothes. I do not know how to sew at all and was looking at JoAnn Fabrics' classes. I was curious if anyone had ever taken them and had any input on them. Additionally, if anyone knows of any places that offer sewing classes in the southwest suburbs of Chicago that would be great.... preferably in Orland Park or surrounding areas.

Why aren't Joann Fabrics fat quarters available in larger bolts? I keep finding these quarters in prints that I love at Joann's only to find that they aren't available in longer lengths. I asked a couple workers and they had no idea why they weren't available in bolt lengths. Does anybody know why they don't carry the longer sides and where I might find their distributor? Does anyone know where I can purchase Silk Vision flowers once carried by JoAnn Fabrics? Does anyone else feel this is rude? (JoAnn Fabrics)? For the past three months I have been going to the JoAnn Fabrics near my house that has a Framing center. The lady there grew to know me and had been giving me student discounts. What I had her do is cut mat board for me for my pictures ( I am majoring in photography therefore taking photography classes and I needed to mat my pictures). Well two days ago she told me that she wasn't making a profit off of cutting those for me and basically told me she couldn't cut them for me anymore and asked if I had anywhere else to get them cut. Wtf? Would she tell a customer who wants a frame done that she couldn't do it for them and to go somewhere else? I don't think so. I don't mind having to pay full price for my pictures to look nice or anything because when I cut my own mat board it looks kinda bad and it takes me forever. Do you feel this was kind of rude? Should I go back and see if I can pay full price? I don't know what to do =( Thanks. I don't understand how I was taking advantage of her time if I was a paying customer.... I also try to take my pictures as soon as I can so I have the dimensions a week before my project is due so that the JoAnn fabrics lady will have more time do cut the mat.

Joann Fabrics stole from me? To make a very long story short, a manager at Joann's took back fabric I had bought there as a return without a receipt. He printed out a "return w/o receipt" receipt for me stating corporate would refund me for the fabric in 2 weeks. It's been well over 2 weeks, now this manager is nowhere to be found. I've left numerous messages for managers, have sent emails, called corporate....if I have been able to reach a live person, they say, "Our hands are tied, there's nothing we can do." I have asked for the merchandise back since they obviously don't plan to refund me - ever. They refuse to give it back but won't admit that this is otherwise STEALING. I am just wondering what recourse I have. I am so frustrated and I can't believe they are getting away with this. What to do next? No one will give me a phone number for a regional/district manager and they just give me a useless 800 number. Help? (They owe me $160 which is a big chunk of change for me).
Is there a "cheap" way to refelt a pool table and what different materials/fabrics can i use? I am looking for an inexspensive way to refelt a pool table and need to what what various facrics can be used. No one sells felt locally - Joann Fabrics has felt that will fit, but the problem is that the felt is polyester and not a wool blend. Someone else also recommended velvet. Can I use polyester felt to refelt the table? can I even use velvet?

Where can I get quality apparel fabrics? (Please do not suggest Joann, Michael's or Wal-Mart, I think they cater mostly to Holiday and quilting crowds). Over the years, I've noticed that the major difference between a cheap looking clothes and quality looking clothes was the fabric and stitching. What is the best fabric paint to use? I really want to get my own fabric paints to do my own t-shirts. I took a class at my school where we made t-shirts, and my teacher said the type that she uses lasts really long, and all you have to do is paint it on and then iron the other side and it'll stick. Is it possible to buy the crocheted tops for kitchen towels? Apparently you can buy towels that have crocheted tops that then loop around handles (IE oven/cabinet/fridge handles) and button closed. where can I find parymid studs or rachets to put on a belt that I am making? I tried joann fabrics, and Micheals craft stores and they did not sell the studs alone they sold leather bracelet kits with the studs already attached. I don't mind buying online if someone has a good web address.
where can I find decorative braid? I purchased trimming braid from a Company called Home -Sew. I used the 25 yds I ordered and ran out. I need about another 5-10 yds. Can the boning in a corset be replaced with a common item or something found at a local sewing store?
