Anyway, I was curious as to how the patterns are created... Do the people who create it use a computer, or a chart? How do they find which colors will work best? If you can find any website that explains how all this works, I'd really appreciate it..

What's the difference between needlepoint and cross stitch? I'm learning needlepoint with a little kit I got, the design is printed onto the cloth. I am looking for a counted cross stitch pattern - please help! (time sensitive)? Hey, a few years ago, I made an adorable little bib for my nephew. I got the pattern out of one of those pattern booklets that are about the size of a folder but don't have any actual pages in them. Anyway, the pattern was a fork, knife and spoon, and the handles were blue and white checked. It was *maybe* 3" tall at the most... I tried to recreate it from memory and it just doesn't look right to me. If you have this pattern or one similar, please please please help me. If you can't help me with that one, I'd like anything simple that I could put on a baby bib. It seems like everyone I know is pregnant right now. (if you have this pattern and can scan it, you can email it to my yahoo email account...)
I want to do a counted cross stitch, where can I find patterns? I have used kits before but I want to try a higher counted fabric and they don't make kits for the higher ones (at least not that I have found). Where do I find a pattern that I like and then how do I adjust it to fit the size of fabric I want? Thank you in advance. I am looking for a nice, detailed pattern of either The Grand Canyon or Utah red rock formations like the Arches. The other possibility is a golden retriever. I'm doing this for my mother and I want it to be tactful and something she can hang on the wall (not the cartoony pictures of dogs).
I need a praying hands cross stitch pattern? A friend gave me a Leisure Arts Praying Hands #114902 counted cross stitch kit. Everything is in it, except for the stitch chart! I need help finding a specific cross stitch pattern.? I need help finding a counted cross stitch/ribbon embroidery pattern or kit by Bucilla called "Through The Years." It has a picture of a tree on it and "Our Family" stitched across the top, with poetry down the sides and a place to put several family names. I started it a long time ago, and I've almost finished the tree, but I moved, and in the move I seem to have lost the pattern. Any help finding this pattern, so that I can finish this piece, would be appreciated. I went to Bucilla.com, and wrote them, and it is discontinued, which is why I'm having so much trouble finding it.

Can someone give some advice about outlining in cross-stitch? I recently purchased a cross-stitch pattern creater program and scanned a photo to stitch. I am nearly done, but am at a loss as to what colors to use for outlining. I have done a few counted cross-stitch in the past, but there don't seem to be any regular guidelines to follow. Do I use one or two colors for everything, or do I match the color to what I'm outlining? What if an object has a light background on one side and dark on the other? If you match the object, how much darker should the color be? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Cross Stitch pattern from 28 count to 18 or 16 count? I've found 28 count is way to small and was thinking of changing to 16 or 18 count. If something is 10.5" X 16.5" on 28 count, what size would I need for 16 or 18 count? Is there any reason I couldn't change the size of the fabric or will it make the pattern look odd? Thanks in advance

Where is the best place to begin a cross stitch pattern? I am a novice Cross Stitcher and have purchased a Thomas Kinkade printed kit. I've already put samples of the corresponding floss by the stitch symbol chart and taped the edges of my canvas to prevent fraying. I'm ready to start the project, but I'm noticing that the chart and the actual print on the canvas are not matching up in the count. For instance, there are more squares on the chart from a point to the edge than there are from the corresponding point on the print to the edge of the printed canvas. I"m also noticing that the chart and printed canvas aren't really matching up from point to point either. I seem to remember my mom saying something about finding the center of the canvas and starting from there. So can someone who is practiced and knowledgable about this craft please tell me how one follows an embellished cross stitich pattern correctly?
