what does it mean when a stitch burns when i pee? i had a baby on sunday and i got stitches i didnt really feel it except one stitch is starting to hurt really bad even when im on medication and it burns when i pee , it hurts so bad all the time the last 2 days please do you have any ideas what to do or what it means or any advise at all.

Postpartum itchy burning stitch site, healed stitches with raised painful scars? I had my gorgeous baby girl almost 4 weeks ago and it was a hard delivery.. I needed forceps to get her out. So bc of that, I tore up both sides almost to the top of my clit (sorry tmi) but surprisingly I don't think I tore down my perineum.. I know I had lots of stitches inside and out but unsure of how many. I was never enlightened to that information. Anyways last week I looked bc I was still hurting.. More a sharp itching sensation and a constant burning where I have healed stitches by my clit. The scars are raised and red.. Reminds me of a keloid. Also I have unhealed stitches inside but not far enough inside that I can't see it and it pokes the crap out of the inside of my vagina and it hurts/itches. What should I do? Oh and I also broke my tailbone.. Which still hurts like crud when I go from sitting to standing or vice versa.. And most of the time normally. Suggestions?

Stitches from giving birth - question? I gave birth the 21s at 10 am and had a superficial tear inside that I got about 7 or 8 stitches in, the self dissolving ones. I had been washing and taking care of it like the nurses and my doctor told me, warm water and the witch hazel pads, etc. I was able to feel the stitches anytime I took a shower, so I knew where they were. This morning when I woke up I was in alot of pain, the stitch site burned badly and when I took a shower to clean the area, I felt for the stitches and didn't feel them there, but the skin was not torn, it is just tender and sensitive. No more blood than usual when I clean or use the restroom. It has become easier to sit now throughout the day and the burning is gone, is 5 days too soon for the stitches to have dissolved? Or could they have popped in my sleep? First baby so I don't know the stitch facts and my doc doesnt work Saturdays. Thanks

How can I make using the bathroom more comfortable? It's been a week since I had my little boy, and during my delivery I got a few labial tears that I needed stitches for. When I go pee, it gets into my stitches and it burns really bad. I pour water while going and that helps a little. Well actually all it does is make it barely bearable. I dread going to the bathroom, and even though I know I shouldn't, sometimes I even hold it for hours before working up the courage to go. Any suggestions as to how I can go more comfortably?

I was sliding around on a sports hall floor for some training activity and my tracksuit bottoms, which are polyester Adidas clima365, but not the synthetic type, have thin, long burns on the material at the knee. Episiotomy healing help please!? Okay so, I am having mild discomfort from episiotomy...the stitches burn wen i pee or spray the antibacterial stuff on them. I used to be able to run forever and have no problems, now being still in great shape and etc I can't run as fast or as long as I used to when I was in high school. I used to feel like i could run forever with only a stitch here and there. Are my stitches from giving birth infected? So I've only had them for 8 days and since the 3rd day it's been BURNING when i pee. Like really bad! Can someone help me with a question about after delivery stitches? Last June, I had a surgery done to remove cervical cancer. When I was delivering my child on Wednesday, I couldn't stretch as much as needed due to it and ended up having severe tearing inside and out, in every possible direction. I'm not sure exactly how many I have but my doctor said he stopped counting after 30. I have a few questions about them, though. 1. My doctor said to not take a bath. What do you recommend for pain relief besides the pain medication he prescribed? 2. How long should it take for the stitches to go away and for me to heal? 3. Should the areas where I have stitches have a burning pain sometimes? 4. How can you tell if you have an infected incision or a ripped stitch? 5. Daycare parents get mad over one scratch but? these same parents will have their babies come to daycare with black eyes, bruises, burns, stitches, broken arms/legs, deep scratches, fever, vomiting, diarrhea, etc. I don't understand this but these parents will get mad if the child come home with a tiny scratch that you can hardly see. I never had a child in my room except one that had a broken leg, but others have had these problems, and mostly all of these kids are under the age of 18 months. how long till stitches heal after labor? i only had about 3 or 4 stitches and it was a tear on the inside from labor. i was just wondering how long till they will heal, because when i go to the bathroom it burns very badly. it been a week since i got them.

What was your worst crash (or only crash)? What happened and how bad was it? I recently had a German Shepherd Run out of the tall grass beside the southbound lanes (4:00 AM and still dark) and stop right in front of me. I had the brakes but can't recall if I even had time to apply them. I slid down the road from about 55 mph to a stop with the bike sliding behind me. The results were road rash/burns to my left shoulder, chipped bone in my left elbow and 10 stitches there, burns and rash to my left knee in four places, a torn ligament in my left ankle, and 2700.00 damage to my bike. I spent 6 hours in the emergency room for cat scans and x-rays. I also missed 8 days from work. I am about 96% right now but still have swelling in the ankle and a limp. All could have been avoided by the dog's owner obeying the laws and keeping the dog in a pen or on a leash. Forgot to mention, I did hit and kill the dog. I am also going to be doing a little investigation of my own as to who may be the owner. I saw a couple more dogs playing in the road about two weeks afterwards so a good bet is a person close by owned it. I do intend to sue if I locate the owner. I am a private investigator and do accident investigations and skip tracing. I have lived here for almost 40 years so I know almost everyone except the rental residents (which is where the dog came from), BTW.............good luck in the upcoming races.

My cousin was on her cell phone and stepped into the ditch, and then fell over the curb onto the street. She fell on her elbows, and got a big cut. Does it need stitches? After birth experience? I have a few questions about what is normal after giving birth. I had a very difficult delivery and don't know what is expected and what is caused by the trauma if anything. First, is it normal for the bleeding to be sporadic? My bleeding was very heavy, then I passed a large clot and it became very light, but now it is heavy again. I had two second degree tears and the spots where I am stitched up burn all the time even after using the tucks pads and dermoplast. My Husband has alcohol liver cirrhosos, how long does he have to live and what stage is he in? My husband has alcohol liver cirrhosis and is in the nursing home, he was diagnosed 2 months ago. He has been in and out of the hospital. All does is sleeps most of the day and is confused most of the time. His muscles seem to be deteriorating. He has his good days and bad days. The bad days scare me cause he sleeps all day and and is really confused and his belly gets hard and enlarges. He also is on dialysis with kidney failure, just a couple of days where is shunt is, it bled for a couple of days. And one day it wouldn't stop bleeding, they tried everything they could and they finally got it to stop by putting stitches and burning the tear since the blood wouldn't clot. I just want to know how long he has left cause the doctor doesn't tell us anything but he said he'd tried everything and they're nothing else he can do? I wish he would tell us the truth us something instead of hiding everything from us instead of just that. Can someone please answer my questions?

Well I was doing great for the first week, this is day 8 and I noticed today when I put the hydrocortizone creame on it, it burns for like 3 minutes and then im fine. I did try to look at them, they dont look like puss is coming out of them, the whole area down there is red and puffy but thats because i just had a baby lol. but, the whole area down there feels bruised, i do have hematoma also down there. So here are my questions!! 1) when will the stitches heal up? 2) why does it burn when i put the hydrocortizone creame on? 3) is the reason my whole area feels bruised now is because its tender from childbirth and because i could be wiping quite hard? 4) how will I know if it gets infected? 5) i squirt tons of water on that area every single time I use the bathroom & I apply the creame and a fresh pad, is this enough to make sure i dont get an infection? thanks so much! EDIT--- i know everyone is saying it will have a foul smell..... i can smell a metal smell (best way to describe it) which I believe is from the blood, nothing that knocks me off my feet or anything, it just smells like normal blood to me (sorry if that was TMI) is there a place I can buy witch hazel pads? I was given a bunch of them but by day 4 i used them all up! oh & the dr. said 1st degree tear...and he only stitched me up because i wouldnt stop bleeding and he couldnt get it under control so he stitched me up to do so. I would say its a 1st-2nd degree tear, it didnt cause me much discomfort like I hear some tears do, it only hurt for a few days when I would sit or stand but now its just tender but nothing like the horror stories I have heard from tears

Lots of constant clear stringy discharge 10-11 weeks after giving birth. Burning during sex? I have no itchyness down below so I don't think the burning is a yeast infection. I get lots of clear stringy discharge every day.. it's not because i'm ovulating.. this discharge is constant! - I've had my periods already - Bleeding stopped after 4-5 weeks - Had a 2nd degree tear with stitches Sex slightly burns and is generally sore. I have only had intercourse once so far due to the pain. Does all of this sound normal? Also if I go to the doctors about this will they want me to do a pap smear then and there? i'm not really keen on having one done yet as I am still sore.

Graze from childbirth still not healed after 12weeks? Hi, My daughter (2nd child) is 12 weeks old. She was 9lb2oz and I managed to get a first degree graze which my midwife questioned putting stitches in but didn't. It still burns when I urinate and starts to bleed when I wipe. Is this normal? What can I do to speed up the healing process. With my first child I tore and required 3stitches and they healed very very quickly. Thanks for the advice =)

Stitches? How will I know they are gone? I had a baby boy on Dec 11 th, vaginally, and had from what the doctor said was a "few" stictches not many. Now it burns when I pee, have they dissolved? ARE MY STITCHES SUPPOSE TO BE TIGHT? I just had my baby boy 6 days ago and I tore, I believe it was about a 2nd degree tear? she didn't tell me she just said I tore pretty much all the way to my rectum almost and it was pretty deep, she didn't have enough time to cut me because he came out after 2 pushes. She stitched me up and I'd been fine except for the last couple days I've been hurting a lil more down there and sometimes it burns really bad when I pee. I went ahead and looked at myself down there to see if I could tell anything wrong and all I see is that it will come apart a lil bit if I move and I can see my stitches pull apart a lil bit. (Sorry TMI) I'm also still bleeding bright red, is any of this normal or should I call my doctor? I had an episotomy w/ my first birth but I cannot remember any of it. I use those tuck pads and I'm fine w/ those but I tried spraying a lil bit of witch hazel on myself and it burned very badly. That's why I wasn't sure if I had ripped my stitches and that being the reason it is burning. Any info. is greatly appreciated. I am going to probably go ahead and call my dr. on Monday just to be sure but wanted other opinions.

Potential lawsuit against hospital? Sorry this is a little long: I am considering talking to a lawyer about filing a lawsuit against my local hospital. I am currently 19 weeks pregnant, and a week ago, I was having a lot of pain and bleeding, and was told by my OB to go to the ER, and be seen by the OB on call. When I get there, I see triage, and triage sends me to a part of the ER called Fast Track, which I always thought was for minor things like stitches, casts, minor burns. Things got progressively worse with my condition, and everytime my husband went and said something to the nurses, all he would get is there are a lot of people in front of me needing to be seen. This was until someone that was a complete stranger to me, went up and said that I looked really bad, so a nurse came out to check on me, but I still was not seen by a doctor. After talking to the maternity ward of the hospital, which my husband went up and talked to them, they told him to have the ER page the OB on duty, so he came back downstairs and told the nurses this, they said they would do so. After a total of 5 hours went by, without being seen by a doctor, my husband went to go ask the nurses again when the OB would be down to see me, and they said the OB had never been called because that is not procedure, that I would have to be seen by an ER doctor first, and he asked how much longer it would take to be seen by a doctor and they told him very snidely that it would be at least another hour. By this time, I had calmed myself down to the point of getting the cramps to go away and we left. I have filed a complaint with the ombudsman of the hospital but I have yet to hear back from them about it. Would I have a case against the hospital for this? Okay one thing I did forget to mention, is this Fast Track does not go by urgency, the people that did go in before me, needed stitches, needed minor work done, there were no gunshot victims, no accident victims, since those go in the regular ER anyway, not the part of the ER I was in. I am considered a high risk pregnancy, which was told to them at triage, but they obviously ignored that part of my statements to them.

Mosquito bite, stitches...? About a week ago, I got three stitches on the side of my hand from a dog bite. The wound has since closed but the stitches won't be removed till next Friday. Not too long ago, I ran outside with the wound uncovered and a mosquito bit me, RIGHT next to the stitches.. It swelled up fast and burned. I dabbed some Benadryl spray on it.. It hasn't gone down yet.. Could my wound be infected from this?!

Stitches after delivery? How long until they're healed? I tore in three places giving birth to my baby girl last week. Two of the tears run along either side of where my urine comes out. It burns when I urinate. I called the doctor on call when it got so bad that I couldn't even force myself to pee. She thought it sounded like a bladder infection and called in a perscription for me. I've been taking the perscription, but the burning is still there. So I went and saw my doctor yesterday, he took out five of the stitches and sent me home saying that it would still burn when I urinate but by taking out the stitches I'd be able to urinate more easily. Large squamish cell, level 3? Taken off .Should I be upset? Two weeks ago, I pulled at a small dry flake of skin, for two days I dug at it and finally the next morning I woke up to a dime size inner tube shaped white thing with the tag intact inside now brown. I attempted to pull at the center and again could not get it to break free. So far a week I put an antibiotic cream on it because it was getting red and painful around the underside. My doctor was not happy to see it and referred me immediately to my derm. Usually a happy man he came into the room, placid, serious and went to numbing it and preforming a 20 minute surgery cutting, numbing, cutting, numbing burning and stitching forever. I ended up with a three inch incision and 10 outside stitches, When the nurse was taking out the bottle she said " level one?" and he said, no level 3. What is the level mean? He said I was in a 1.5% of the population that has these go undetected like this. This is the largest surgery for S.C.C I have had, I have had two others, but nothing like this. The scary part is, he checked me in June only four months ago. I am fair skinned and I have these flakes all over me. I am a little scared.

Last week, I got 4 stitches+3 injections to numb hand.Now ,I cant extend my finger-burning, tearing feeling? They gave 3 shots to numb my hand . One of the shots felt like it hit a nerve and I felt it shoot down my arm. At the base of the finger that got cut-when I touch it or when I try to extend the finger, I feel burning and like somethings about to tear. I'm going back in 2 days but does anyone have any ideas about this?-its been 7 days since I had this done.

I gave birth 9 days ago, and the dr didn't think he'd have to cut me until the very end, and he said he was going to have to make a very small incision. I was under the impression that it wasn't very bad, because it didn't take long at all for him to sew me up and I had more pain from the pressure feeling in my bottom than anything else. Anyway, today, I've seen THREE stitches on my toilet paper! I'm not wiping, I'm using the spray bottle and then just patting dry. So, by dissolve I thought they meant they would disappear... but is this what is supposed to happen? Are you supposed to be able to see them when they come out? The only thing I can think of is that I've been itchy with a burning sensation down there for the past few days, so I've been squirming around a little bit to avoid stratching. I've also had several bowel movements, but all soft - nothing I would think would rip them out. Also, I looked down there with a mirror, and it looks as if part of it might be open!! Any advice would be appreciated, I don't know what to do!! I'm calling my dr tomorrow, but what would they do if it HAD opened up? Would you have to have outpatient surgery? Is this Normal for a mole removal to look like a cigarette burn? I had a mole removed 2 days ago. The mole was pretty deep but no stitches were used, instead they used this iron ointment to stop the bleeding and left it at that. Now I look like I have a cigarette burn on my arm. How long will intercourse be sore after a Perineum Tear? I had my daughter 2 months ago today and have been gradually trying to have regular intercourse with my husband. However, there is still one specific spot that continues to feel as if it is burning or streching despite anything we try to do. It is the exact spot that the stitches from my Perineum Tear would have been. There is no infection and the stitches have all healed, but there is almost a bump and tenderness in just one pin-pointed spot. The Doctors are no help as to when it will stop hurting or if it even will. Will this start to feel better over time, or is this something that will be a lifelong thing and possibly the Doctor's may have stitched it wrong?

When I practice my elbow strikes my elbows keep getting cut on the punching bags, soloution? swollen area.. burns like hell when i pee.. help? i just gave birth on saturday to 9 pound & 55 cm long baby.. and that's a pretty big baby. but it was all worth it cause he is beautiful. tmi...stitches and going 2 the bathroom ok, i had my baby 4 days ago & i haven't pooped since. i'm scared if i push i will rip my stitches out, they gave me stool softener but that didn't work. also how long did it take 4 the burning 2 stop when u pee?? i'm sorry 4 grossing anyone out!

Just got stitches?!?!?? I was messing with this glass candleholder thing with a crack in it and it broke in my hand and my mom said she saw my bone because I cut it that deep... except I was totally relaxed and instead of crying from pain I was laughing insanely?! The second my mom said stitches I almost passed out. Well, I got the stitches and it didn't hurt at all. I watched the whole thing and the worst part was when they numbed it and it burned insanely but it stopped hurting and I was laughing again. That was 2 days ago. Today my stitches hurt a little at times and my upper arm is aching insanely? Is there a connection? It's not infected I just checked I took the bandages off... And what's this I hear about them falling off or dissolving? I am so scared.. that was my first trip to the ER and I REALLY don't want to go back.... is it a bad thing if it falls off or dissolves? And what about this freaky arm pain? And why didn't it hurt when I actually cut it? It never started hurting after that. ??

Does my dog need stitches? My 2 year old dog has a cut under her left paw. It's about 4mm long and 2 1/2 to 3mm deep. Possibly closer to 3. There was a good amount of bleeding yesterday, and today it's almost nonexistent, but she is still bleeding a little. I have been putting Neosporin on it, placing a gauze pad on top, and wrapping it with this elastic bandage. It's been almost two full days and since there's still bleeding (although minimal), I am worried. It looks deep to me (or maybe I am just overly worried), and maybe it's not healing as well because she has to walk on it? The main point of this (sorry it's so long!) is whether or not I should consider stitches? I have been to the vet for other things before and it really burned a hole in my pocket (starving student here!) and that was just for checkups and meds. I am worried I may not be able to afford it, but if it's needed, I will come up with it somehow. But is my Neosporin remedy good enough? Or should I take her to the vet ASAP? Thanks!

Perineal tear stitches - are they just healing or is there a problem? I gave birth on Tuesday the 11th and had a 2nd degree perineal tear. I have been following all the directions that the hospital gave me, but I am experiencing some things I am not sure if I should be worried about or not. The area is a little red and it is still very sore. Sometimes I feel a burning pain in that area. I checked it today to see if there was any puss; no puss was visible and there was no "strange" discharge. What I did see, however, was some blood. As I pulled the area open to see the stitches, there was a little bleeding around some of the stitches. It wasn't anything excessive, just enough for me to notice. I am not running a fever. I am just concerned with the amount of pain I am in. I would appreciate any information anyone can provide to me. Thank you! I have only tried 2 sitz baths so far. I had a lot of burning in the area of the stitches and thought it may be doing more harm than good. I used some Dermoplast the first couple of days and have also used Tucks pads lining my pad. I make sure to rise the area after I use the bathroom (using the bottle the hospital sent me home with) and then blot gently with toilet paper. (I also blot with toilet paper after a shower or a sitz bath.) Thanks so much for all this help! I just want to make sure I am in good shape so I can take good care of my new little baby.

What exercises can i do with 17 stitches on my left leg? I recently had to get 17 stitches on my left leg because i caught it on the fire place... it wont be 100% until after 6 weeks and i don't want to get out of shape.. i was looking for some high calorie burning exercises or any exercises that i could do without bending my leg or pulling out my stitches which will be in for 12 days... thanks! :D

The outer part of my left foot is numb, starting from the heal and extending all the way to the second toe. Sometimes I feel stitches which last a few seconds and a part of my leg is very sensitive to touch, that is whenever I dry myself with a towel this area has a very strong and burning sensation, to the point that I can not touch it anymore. I've had some real no brainers - breaking my toe hitting my foot on an armchair while doing a cartwheel, three stitches in my head hitting my head on a different armchair while attempting to jump from one side of the living room to the other, breaking a rib and chipping a tooth diving on a bed, third degree burns on my fingers while cheking the hob was warm, mouse-trapping two fingers (one on each hand) in a folding chair, going diving when the sea was full of jellyfish and getting stung. what's the side effect of drinking water just before a jog/run? My throat burns really easily (dry up and cough/choke) so i have to rehydrate myself more frequently than those around me. Surgical incision red and burns....is it an infection? I had surgery February 20th on my knee and on the 21st I burst a stitch. If you were in charge, what would be the punishment for this crime? At the shelter where I'm a volunteer, an animal control officer brought in a young male Boxer (pure bred), with some horrendous injuries. Not only was he very malnourished, but someone had poured some sort of acid or drain cleaner down his back (about 12" along his spine). The acid had gotten on top of his head and on his hind legs, and wherever it touched, it burned the flesh off. The vets had to cut away the ruined skin and staple/stitch him back up. He'll always have the scars, but he's a fantastic dog, even after this horrible abuse. He's so friendly and playful, and he simply LOVES being with people. Is the pain I am having from my 3rd degree tear after childbirth normal? Anyone know much about laser resurfacing for scars? I recently had correctional surgery for a scar I've had since I was young. About 2 1/2 months ago, the surgon cut it back open (it was indented) and stitched it up to create a new scar. Two days ago I went back in to have him do laser resurfacing and now I'm reading more about it online. The area is completely bloody and looks like a 3rd degree burn with a bunch of discharge. Is this normal or did the surgeon take laser too far?
