Removing Stitches? I'm having surgery on my foot in February. I've never had stitches before and wanted to know if it hurts to have them removed?

My four year old son cut his leg and got stiches, this was about a month ago. scince i am a nurse and now that he had to have the stiches he is terrified of the doctors, hospital and dentist so I figured even though I have never taken stiches out before but have taken thousands of staples out how hard can it be??? so my husband held him down and I went to work, but I dont think i got them all (they were clear and as fine as a hair). So now when i rub my finger over the scar I can feel some hard hair like things sticking out. What if I did leave some in there? Will it get infected or could his body attempt to push them out like it does with splinters sometimes? And dont yell at me for doing it myself, its not a huge procedure and tons of people do it thereself. I would NEVER do anything to harm my child..... Yes I used everything sterile, I got them from work. And I thought they were dissovable too but the doctor when he discharged him said to take him to get them removed at 7-10 days????

I have a boston terrier that was just spayed and need to know easy technique for removing stitches? I have a fiesty boston terrier that was just spayed and I was told my the animal shelter that had it done through a vet that we would need to clip out the stitches in 7 to 10 days. She went away and brought back the doctor and he talked to me while she went on in the same manner. What is the best way to remove stitches from my hand? I KNOW! Go to a doctor. But seriously, I knew when I did it I needed to be sewed up (duct tape wasn't gonna take care of that one) and went to ER and had it done. Cost me an arm & a leg. Ok, so, we asked the vet if it was ok, and, they said it is ok for us to do it, since the wound isn't red or swollen, and theres no signs of infection.... and, it seemed of of healed right up. What I done: -cut right below the knot with those little, sharp, skinny scissors that u use to I guess, groom urself, lol -the first go around, I didn't have my forcepts, so, I used my fingers to pull the stitch out, however: - it appeared that I left a piece, so, I got my forcepts and removed it. -Then, since a little spurt of blood/water came out (just a drop) I poured a dab of peroxide on it. Oh, before & after I removed that stich, I poured alcohol on the scissors and forcepts. & whiped the area with a tissue w/ peroxide. Did I go about that correctly? Oh, and, the remaining three stiches look kinda wierd...who knows, thats probably the way the one I took out looked, which would explain why I had a piece left...... Is each individual stich suppose to be in a triangle type form? (entering one side of wound twice, other side once)? If so, would this be the reason that I had a small piece left in? Well, if someone could just double check with my steps, and make sure I'm doing stuff correctly, and, if I'm not, might someone tell me what to do different? Please and thanks!

Today one of my friends made me laugh really hard and I think one of the stitches came out. I am worried about how the early removed stitch will affect my smile( the way my upper lip curls into a smile). Can anyone tell me if this will change the way my smile appears?

is it ok to leave stitches in a few days later then when doc wanted to remove them? i was supposed to get stitches removed today but i missed appointment and rescheduled for 4 days later. is this ok?

The strip of gauze was placed in the socket where they removed the wisdom tooth and told me to take it out after 2 days. What to do about cat biting stitches? I just got a new cat from the animal shelter, and they have them spayed. I picked her up from the vets office, surpized to find that she had two metal like stitches coming from her stomach.. When I got her home we layed her down and tried to get her to rest, but she is obsessed with those stitches. The vet says that she shouldn't be messing with them that much, but they didn't give us any type of cone or way to ensure that she doesn't pull them out. Im worried about that, and the vet office is closed now and wont open again till after the holidays. Is it normal for your skin to heal on top of non-dissolvable stitches? I had a mole removed from my back, and had a 2 inch gap (both vertically, and inward) that had to be sewn up afterward. Is it normal for my hand to be sore and weak after stitches? I recently fell out of my raft into shallow water. I landed awkwardly on my left hand and ( this is kind of gross so fair warning ) spread two of my fingers so far apart it tore the skin in between. How to remove stitches? I recently cut myself on the bottom of my foot and got 9 stitches two weeks ago tomorrow.
