Keep Me In Stitches Knowledge Base
What if you keep stitches in forever? I got stitches in a couple weeks ago and every time we go to the emergency room you have to wait a couple hours just to get stitches out. So I was wondering what if you keep stitches in forever? I'm not gonna keep them in forever though. Just wondering. I had 6 stitches, but I cut 2 out, but the other ones won't come out. I'm still going to try though. I cut them all out. Thanks for all of your answers though.
Is it bad to keep stitches in my gums? I had my wisdom teeth taken out a month ago, and I haven't had a chance to go to the dentist to get the stitches taken out yet (it's not the type that dissolves) because he is so far away. I know, of course, it is not good to have it left there, but what type of health complications can it cause if I just leave them there? I'll go to have them taken out eventually, but I was wondering if there was any potential problems I needed to be aware of. Also, any tips on how I can take them out myself? I caught one end of it with a tweezer but it hurt when I tugged at it a little bit.. Thank you!
Is 3-4 days to little time to keep stitches in? I had stitches on my finger on Saturday morning (3rd May) and the doctor told me Tuesday to get them out, but I can't remember if it was this tuesday or next. On the paper given to me it says 'Please remove sutures in: 7/7'
How long should a child keep stitches? My 6 year old daughter had a accident at school today. She ran into a wall while playing at P.E. She wears glasses and they caused some cuts above her eye. We live in a small town and it happened about lunch time. All of the doctors offices were closed so we had to take her to the emergency room. The doctor that was there does not have the best reputation for being a very good doctor. While he was stitching the cuts, his hands were very shaky. I think he still did a pretty good job, as far as I can tell. However, I don't know if his advice for how long the stitches should stay in is the correct time. He said they should stay in for 5 days. I know that the length of time they stay in can affect the scar that is left. Can anyone give me some advice on this?
Keep stitches covered/? How long do I need to keep them covered. Just got moles removed for biopsy. He cut them off with a scalpel and stitched them up, didn't mention how long i had to keep them covered. Thanks in advance.
Any tips to prevent infection in my stitches? I got stitches in my finger a few days ago... I had a nasty incident with a car door that ripped out my ENTIRE fingernail (nail matrix and all). The doctor in the ER said that it was a bad enough injury that my fingernail probably won't grow back... so I am doing all I can to help it heal well. I have to keep my stitches in for 8 to 10 more days. I have been taking my antibiotics that the doctor prescribed as scheduled, and I've been changing the bandages 2 or 3 times a day (and applying the antibiotic ointment that the doctor gave me in the ER). I was told not to soak the wound and to keep it dry as much as possible. So far, everything looks good (or as good as a stitched up finger can look, LOL)... I was just wondering if anyone had any advice for keeping stitches clean and infection-free? I've never had stitches before, so it would be nice to hear some tips from people with a little experience with this sort of thing. The doctor in the ER wasn't exactly helpful. Thanks!!
Should I keep my stitches wrapped on my finger? I have 4 stitches on my middle finger, in the middle section. I've had it covered up for the past 4 days, it looked healed but now its like "pruned". I keep it wrapped so it keeps my finger tight and bent so i don't rip the stitches and stretch it out. Should I keep it wrapped or let air get to it, risking me popping a stitch? Please help.
How do I keep my cats stitches clean? I had my cat spayed earlier in the week. Got my tooth pulled on Wednesday and they put disolving stitches in apparently, but the stitches keep being pulled taut ribbing my gums and they dont seem to be disolving anywhere. I dont think they are disolving stitches but its only been 4 days so how long do disolving stitches last for before they disolve?
Washing hair -vs- keeping stitches dry? I recently had stitches in my head and was advised not to wash my hair for 10 days until the stitches are removed. Today is day 5 and I stupidly did some painting without covering my head. My hair is now covered in paint and desparately needs washing. Would it really harm my stitches and wound if I washed my hair?

What do menstrual cramps feel like? Do they feel like stitches? When I have been walking recently, I keep getting stitch like things in the front of my tummy just under my ribs. Are these menstrual cramps or are they just stitches? I'm not sure because I am quite fit and I don't usually get stitches anymore when I am walking, normally only when I have been running for a while. So what do your cramps feel like when you are on your period?

I'm getting a small mole removed (the doctor said it would be 1 or 2 stitches) and It's on my face - and i reallly can't go to school with stitches in my face. I get enough crap as it is. When I am knitting purl stitches but they keep looking like garter stitches, why? I just learned to knit and I am trying to practice my pearl stitches but it keeps turning out looking like garter. I checked with several videos and online tutorials and I am knitting it correctly so I don't know why it's turning out looking so wrong. For several rows I can see the purling but then the garter stitch jumps in, even though I keep knitting purl. Does anyone know why this would be?
Beginner Knitter in need of help! My stitches seem to be getting tighter and harder to work with.? I just started knitting, and I'm using size 3.75 double-pointed needles with thinnish yarn. I'm trying to knit my friend an i-pod carrying case before christmas, alternating between the knit stitch and the purl stitch (K2,P2.. i guess. xD) I /think/ I'm doing the knit stitch right, but I'm not entirely sure. Can you go swimming with disolveable stitches? I had keyhole surgery about 2 weeks ago, I still have the stitches in, and still have the bits of tape they "criss-cross" over the stitches to keep the skin tight (they told me not to pull these off, but to leave them until they fall off naturally) Is it ok to go swimming? I would have to pull the bits of tape off or I'll look odd. But as far as the stitches go, is it ok? Will they dissolve from the chlorine/chemicals in the pool?
How do I change colors in garter stitch and keep all the floats on the same side? I'm trying to make the Checkerboard slippers (old time pattern, many may remember it, easily found when searched but i got mine from Ravelry) and it calls for 6 stitches of one color alternated by 6 stitches of another. It's only knit stitch, no purl side. How do I keep all my floats on the one side when I change my colors? Do I need to twist my yarns to keep the holes out from both sides of the frequent color change?
stitches wont stop bleeding!? I got stitches today after having some scar tissue cut out. Since my stomach is an area that I cannot really stop bending, the stitches keep bleeding. I have bled through bandages. I plan to call my doctor tomorrow but was hoping for some assurace in the meantime. Is this at all normal??
Holding embroidery stitches in? I had a class a few years ago that I made a pillow in and I gave it to a friend. However, now I'm going back and making him a blanket to match it but I need something that will help keep the stitching in if it's going to go through the wear and tear of a blanket. What's a good product that I could put on the back of it to maybe mold the tied strings in to hopefully hold it without ruining it? Also, this is hand-embroidering not machine and I'm not the greatest at it yet.
My stitches on right side have fallen out .. wisdom teeth removed friday morning? I had my 4 wisdom teeth removed less than 24 hours ago.. I noticed something poking my tongue after I got the feeling back in my jaw around 7pm Friday, when I looked there was a stitch hanging with both ends loose on my lower right jaw (it was weird though because it was actually between the two remaining molars, not the spot back where the tooth was removed) so I didn't think much of that. I just woke up because I could feel one of the ends of a stitch kept sitting in between my teeth, I just pushed it back so it wouldn't bother me without a problem .. I went to eat some yogurt and felt even more of the stitch and realized it had slipped out completely .. I no longer see any stitches over that spot any more ... They were the dissolvable stitches, do I need to contact the oral surgeon on call tomorrow or just leave it?
Help I am kind of stuck!? What should the title of this memoir and any mistakes or things that I should change?! “1-2-3-4,” Julia counted. I dashed into the closet of the guest room, threw some wooly blankets over my head, and hoped Julia wouldn’t find me. Nicole was out of sight. After Julia counted I could feel my hands tingling. Was it nerves? As my head lowered down I saw my phone ringing. My sister was calling, so I dismissed it hoping Julia wouldn’t find me. Once again my hand started to vibrate, so this time I answered. “ Could you not-“ I was interrupted. “Sophie’s having puppies!” my sister exclaimed. My mouth went sour. Apparently Julia and Nicole could smell my sourness from miles away, I was spotted. “ What’s up with you?” Julia asked. “ My dog, Sophie, is having puppies!” I squealed. As we jumped around, my sister wanted to know if I wanted to sleep over Julia’s or help deliver the puppies. At the time I would’ve helped deliver the puppies, but Julia and Nicole are always busy, so I slept over. Hour by hour I got pictures of the miraculous puppies. I imagined holding the rat-sized puppy in the palm of my hand. Then again I imagined inhaling the putrid smell from their time spent in the womb. In the morning I left Julia and Nicole for my other friends, my dogs. It was mind blowing seeing all five puppies lined up along their mother. Now here’s the downside. I had to take care of the puppies, their mother, and their father. Every night I had to sleep downstairs, not that I got much sleep. The puppies would always squeal for their mother, Sophie, would always bark to go in and out of the playpen. When they could walk my family and I named each one. Their names were Stitch, Porsche, Charlie, Star, and Bubba. The puppy I was drawn to the most was Stitch. Every week one puppy would be eliminated. One day it was down to two puppies, Charlie and Stitch. Since Stitch and I had such a strong connection, when the last buyer came to pick a puppy, I hid him. The buyer came in the door, kind of dressed like a crazy cat lady, a feathery hat, a strange patterned dress, and some sandals with jewels on them. The perfume she wore gave off a pleasant, strong scent. My dad picked up Charlie and told her he was the last puppy left. The woman examined him playing with his brother and decided to take him. I sighed with relief as she walked out the door. “Now what?” my dad asked. My master plan was to convince my parents to keep Stitch. I begged and pleaded and after a couple of days the results were in. “You can keep him.” My mom said. A huge grin appeared upon my face. I picked Stitch up and danced for joy. He looked sick so I put him down. That was one of the happiest days of my life. My dogs mean a lot to me. Having them teaches me a lot of responsibility as well as the experience of having the puppies. They help me to learn how to manage time because they have to fit in my schedule too. Plus, this way I won’t be “dilly-dallying”, like my dad says. I am so fortunate to have experienced this event.
Amigurumi crocheting question! Please help!? After learning all the basics i purchased an adorable book called Amigurumi World by Ana Rimoli...so if anyone is familiar with the book that would help a lot! I have been trying to crochet the little coffee cup and have been doing the Rows and stitch count EXACTLY how the instructions tell you to but all i end up is with a huge circle. The edges curl up and i'm assuming if i keep stitching around it will end up looking like a cup but it seems as if the cup would end up looking waay too big...what am i doing wrong? Here is the pattern for reference: R1: ch2, 7 sc in second from hook R2: 2sc in each sc around (14 sts) R3: R1, 2 sc in next sc rep 7 times R4: sc 2, 2sc in next sc rep 7 R5 sc 3, 2sc in next sc rep 7 R6: through back loops only, sc3, dec 1 rep 7 times R7-15 sc 28 please help! it's been driving me crazy and i've had to re do the whole thing so many times! I think i've been reading the pattern pretty good...for example if it says sc 2, 2sc in next sc all you have to do is 2 single crochets in one and then 2 in the next right? ok..that all makes so much sense..i feel so dumb now! hehehe...i think what got me was instead of doing a single stitch in the next 2 stitches i was doing 2 stitches in each single stitch...i'm going to try it again and hopefully it will come out right! Thank you all so much for your help! it was getting really frustrating!
Stitches in too long? Your Open QuestionShow me another » Stitches in too long? I had to get stitches on my neck and my plastic surgeon wanted to keep the stitches in for 10 days. What is a home remedy sedative? I need a recipe or remedy for a sedative for small animals. It could just relax them or cause them to be unconious for about an hour so they can get stitches. Keep in mind I'm working with small game rabbits, birds, etc.
How to protect stitches in the rain? Ok I have two 6 month old puppies who still have stitches in from dewclaw removal and nueter/spay. (before I get lectured on the dewclaws they were back hanging dewclaws that constantly snagged and caused the dog pain so I had them removed) The vet told me not the get the stitches wet and avoid walking the dogs in the rain. Well it has now been raining for 5 hours and my poor pups wanna go outside! Any ideas on how I can keep the stitches dry? Or do I just have to wait it out. Correction: the vet told me not to get. whoops

Keep getting stitches when running, how can I help this? I go running every night, like 6 minutes into it I get a stitch and have to stop, then breath then continue then stop again when i get another one. I keep having to cut short my running even when I feel very much capable of running for another 10-20 minutes, I hate it because I come home feeling that I haven't had a nice hard exercise. I usually leave at least 2 hours after eating before I run, sometimes 3 hours. I drink about half a liter in the hour before I run. I'm 19, weigh 250 lbs and am 6'2". I've been jogging for a few weeks but am finding it hard to increase my running times due to stiches.
How do I "tie off" a quilt (not decorative knots - but to secure stitches)? I'm learning to machine quilt. I have several projects of 14 inch sandwich squares of muslin. The instructions are to start each quilt line with the "tie off" stitch (stitches close together), then continue to quilting stitch, and end with tie off stitch. There will be a thread on the top and bottom of the square at start and end of "tie off" stitches. Am I to use those tiny bits of thread to somehow tie a simple knot? It seems like I won't have enough thread to do it (my fingers are small, but still!). And also, won't that leave ugly little knots all over the place on top and bottom? I'm thinking of a project that details freehand stitching around objects in a landscape on the fabric. For those, tracing around little windows, etc., it won't leave me with much slack to tie, and then that landscape-patterned square will be riddled with tiny knots. To be clear - I'm not looking to make decorative knots - just a method to keep the stitches secure in the fabric. Is there a tool that makes tying such knots (with the tiny remnants of thread) easier? Diane B., thanks. I'm certainly used to backstitching over top, but for a quilt meant to display the stitches, backstitching over top of stitches isn't very finished-looking. What you said about the "tie off" stitches holding the quilt stitches makes sense. I guess I'm just so used to backstitching that it seems like those "tie off" stitches wouldn't be too useful holding things together without a knot.
Trauma Center: SO for Wii? I'm at the episode where you have to work on Dr. Hoffman and the guilt is in his heart. I get to the part where I inject the serum and both of the surgons use their healing touches and the guilt is slashing up his heart, i keep stitching up the wounds but i run out of time. I have no idea what to do after u inject the serum.
Do dissolving stitches have a weird taste when they are dissolving? I got my wisdom teeth out recently and they put in those dissolving stitches. I keep getting this weird taste in my mouth, it's a chemical-ish taste and it's back immediatly even after I brush my teeth. The only thing I could think was that maybe it was the stitches. Does anyone know from experience or whatever if they give off a weird taste when they dissolve?
What movie is this.....? It had Steve Martin or Leslie Nielsen in it. Im not sure which one, they both look alike. It was a comedy movie, and old (but colour). And there was 2 gals and there arms and legs kept falling off and they had to keep stitching them back on. In a scene, one of the woman pushed the other down the stairs and she was all floppy and after had to put herself back together. They could live forever, and they made the man live forever too. I think they were both hes wifes. Anyone have any ideas on what it is? I have no idea on what it might be called. How long should I keep my stitches? I have a 3/8 of an inch cut on my neck that the doctor stitched up yesterday. Since I will be gone over the 4th, I couldn't make the appointment to take my stitches out until a week from now. Is it a good/bad idea to take my stitches out earlier? I got my stitches on Monday and want to take them out Thursday. Considering it's such a small cut I don't think it would take a full week. Any suggestions?
How do I manage to keep making and losing stitches when I'm knitting? I just learned to knit from my grandma and I'm working on a scarf for a friend. However, I think it's kind of funny that I keep managing to adjust the number of stitches. I started off with 24, and have fluctuated from 22 to now 32. How come this happens? What am I doing wrong? I'm not too concerned seeing as this is my first knitting experience, I'm just curious.
How can keep my stitches from getting short? I love to crochet, and when I first I get started, everything goes well. Later on, something happens, and it's not coming out like it should. I know I should count the stiches, but it's hard to remember.
Got stitches and have to keep a band-aid on it but it gets irritated? I got a mole removed on my back, so they put stitches in. I have to have them in for two weeks. Its been almost a week since I got them, and we have to keep it covered with a band-aid. The band-aid irritates my skin so we got fabric band-aids, and but them on each time in different directions, but it still irritates my skin. What can I do to keep it from getting so irritated?
How can I keep my dog from licking her stitches? I just had my dog spayed yesterday, and the veterinary assistant told me I could put a shirt on her to keep her from licking and pulling her stitches. Are there any other ways I can keep her from doing that?
How to keep my dog from licking her stitches!? I've already tried the cone (don't know the real name for it), she hates it, and ends up tearing it off herself in 2 seconds, I don't blame her the thing looks totally uncomfortable! Are there any other ways I can keep her from licking her stitches, she just got spayed Tuesday. I am using a t-shirt on her now, and she manages to get that off too! I never thought of using an Ace bandage! I will have to give that a try!
How do I keep my dog's stitches dry? Any recommendations on keeping the stiches dry while I'm at the lake would be splendid. This is precautionary as I know she likes being close to us, and she likes to get her paws in the water. Also, if I take her back to the city for the vet to remove the stitches half way through my vacation, will she be able to swim when we return to the lake?
Can I keep something stitched beneath my skin? * NOT an emo * Just a hypothetical question. If I were to cut my skin a little, hide a little piece of paper, and then stitch it back, whats the worse that could happen over time ? What's the best way that I can keep a little piece of paper with me forever. I know digesting won't be helpful.
Knitting keep gaining stitches.? Just started Knitting a few days ago. I'm teaching myself, with the help of the Internet. So far I have mastered casting on and the knit stitch. My problem right now is, I keep gaining stitches and don't know why this keeps happening. I start by casting on 25 stitches and after two or three rows I have 26 and it keeps growing from there. How do I keep my male dog off of my female dog? I have a male and a female puppy - both 12 weeks old. They were both spayed and neutered about a week ago. They even still have the cones on their heads to keep them from chewing their stitches. However, I think I've caught the male trying to mount her several times - I couldn't tell if they were just playing or not. Should this still be happening even though they've been fixed? Is there any way to keep him off of her, short of keeping them constantly separated?
How Can I Keep My Dog From Licking Stitches? I just had my 1 year old Australian Shepherd neutered on April 22, He will not leave his stitches alone, I was wondering if anyone knew of anyways to keep him from doing this, other than using an Elizabethen collar. He has already went through 3 E-collars, he will not keep them on. What about the Bitter Apple spay, does that work? He did not have a laser done, I was going to get him done with the laser method but they wanted a hundred dollars, which is not bad but I had to get his vaccinations, heatworm test, etc. I got him neutered in the old cut and stitch method at a Low cost spay and neuter clinic and this is the first time one of my male dogs was stitched, my other vet used to "glue" them together. By what I mean when he went through 3 E-collars, he destroyed them, he chewed what he could get and just went nuts, he hates haveing it on.
Stitches in tongue and teeth knocked out..how to keep them clean? My husband was hit in the mouth with a softball, it knocked out 3 of his teeth. He also has 8 stitches in his tongue. What's the best advice for cleaning his teeth and keeping his tongue from getting infected. He has his top gums wired and 2 of the teeth were put back in, should he still brush them like normal? Salt water, Mouth wash? Which is better since he has an open wound in there.
