But I also want to be able to machine wash it without the ends fraying out. The yarn I am using says it's ok to machine wash and dry on delicate cycles, but I don't know how to keep the ends of the fringe from fraying. I'm trying to crochet a baby blanket. It calls for, "2 dc in each ch-2 loop across." What does this mean? I found this great design for a baby blanket. I'm just a bit confused because I don't understand what, "2dc in each ch-2 loop across" means. Can somebody help me decipher this? After getting about 5 inches into a popcorn stitch baby blanket, I noticed there's something funky/loose/streched in one area of my very first row (only across about 4 inches). It's enough to really bother me, since the rest of the blanket looks perfect so far. I don't have a lot of crochet experience yet, so my question is: Can I snip the beginning corner & unravel the first row to just get rid of it? Then just weave in the loose ends at the end of the row (so the 2nd row just becomes the new edge)? Will this work, or are there problems I'm not seeing? Thanks! Treece- I'm confused; It's not like knitting where it's all attached & weaved together. There's no 'chain' that holds the top finishing edge of a crocheted work together; it all seems to stand alone. Here's my pattern: http://www.bernat.com/pattern.php?PID=4017 The very first step is to Half Double Crochet (hdc) a chain of 143. Hdc is done by inserting the hook into the third chain. How many chains are you supposed to have in the first place? Also, how tight should they be? I'm afraid of it being so lose that it won't turn out, but at this point I'm struggling to even get my crochet hook into some of the chain because it's tight... One last question: When doing a hdc, you're supposed to draw through all three loops on the hook but I only have two. Any crotchet expert who can speak to me in layman's terms would be greatly appreciated. Once I get it going I'm sure I'll be fine, I just don't know where I'm going wrong. How do you crochet a baby blanket that has two layers? My friend has a baby blanket that has two layers of stitching to it. One layer is white and the other is multicolored pastels and there's a knotted fringe all the way around. The layers are worked around and through each other so there is no separation or gapping.
