The best knitting magazines? I'm looking for some good knitting magazines to subscribe to. I'd rather not have the magazine to be targeted ONLY to clothes, but have a wider spectrum of types of patterns. It'd be great if you could include the price to subscribe for the magazine, or even the price of an individual magazine. Thanks!

I don't think she is into any super technical stuff. She knits more traditional.

Does anyone know where to sign up for a free knitting mailing? I knit for my papillon and I wanted to be sent a knitting magazine or newsletter to get some cool patterns. They don't even have to be dog patterns either( since I have a big family who would like to get knitted things as well) I love getting things in the mail that some people would classify as "junk mail". its just so exciting! :D I already get emails, and I have searched endlessly on google, and I have signed up for the lion brand yarn magazine.

She likes to knit hats, gloves, scarves, ponchos, blankets and stuff for children. I don't think she is into any super difficult techniques (although she is a good, experienced knitter). She knits more for pleasure than for a challenge. Thanks! PS I don’t know what the word “TECHNICAL” means in the knitting world. Does that mean it is more difficult? I don’t want to get her a mag with difficult patterns.

Is there a mistake in this knitting pattern? I am trying to knit square 57 from the Art of Knitting magazine. It should allow for small holes along the rows, which they have called 'little flowers'. The 5th row does not allow for any holes. Cst on 27 stitches. Row 1-4 knit to end. Row 5: K4, yfwd, sl 1, k1, psso. Yet when I have finished this row, I end up with 4 stitches less. Any ideas where I am going wrong? This is exactly as that part of the pattern is written. Thanks. Sorry, forgot to mention that once this sequence is done, it is repeated until the end of the row.
Binding Off in knitting....I do not understand pattern instructions. Could someone please help? Creative Knitting Magazine. January 2009 issue. Easy Basket-Weave Cardigan..page 16. I have never made a cardigan before and do not understand the instructions for "Shape neck". Instructions are as follows: "Shape neck At beg of WS row, bind off [8 sts] once, [3 sts] once, [2 sts] once, and [1 st] once. Work even on rem 18 sts until front is same length as back." I understand and can do the basic bind off but I don't understand what I am to do here......do I cut the yarn after each set of sts to be bound off? Am I to bind them off all together? Would you make yarn out of your cat's hair? I thought of this once but as a joke and then today I saw an add in a knitting magazine for a company that will make yarn out of your cat's hair. What do you think? Would you do it?
What's the most efficient way to sell craft supplies and books? I'm ready once and for all to downsize my stash of craft books (mostly knitting, crocheting, cross stitch), magazines, and supplies. I'd like to know how others have succeeded and what they recommend. I've had limited success with Amazon, and am now considering Yahoo groups, eBay, blujay, and such. Ideas will be greatly appreciated! Thanks.
How do I break it to her? So its March Madness and there are a number of guys coming to view. I was able to get the knitting needles and yarn off the couch with difficulty. Ideas for an Inspiring project to work on to keep from unnecessary eating? I got this idea from a Weight Watchers magazine. They used knitting or making a photo album as an example but I am not interested in either of those. What was the most exciting job you ever had? And the dullest? I used to teach literacy in a NSW prison. The first day I was there someone got shanked in the art room...in fact, the guy standing next to me. That was pretty exciting (or terrifying...as I thought of it at the time!) The dullest job I ever held was as a Proof Reader for technical magazines. Car parts and knitting patterns.

Does there come a point in one's knitting carreer where they can look at something and knit it? I know ppl that can't, but why knit for years if I can't knit what I see in the magazines? I only ask this because I saw something I want, but it is obviously not a beginners sweater, so I will probably not be able to make it for another 6 months. It is in Vougue Knit, so I cannot buy it anywhere. But I REALLY REALLY want it. And a couple others I see from time to time that I would love to have. Plus, being slighlty an odd size, I think making some of my clothes may benifit me eventually pay off as I could make them fit my body which can make them appear more expensive, or at least make me look better dressed. Does there ever come a point where someone can look at somehting, and knit it?
How do you organize your knitting/crocheting supplies, patterns, yarn and current projects? I have stuff literally everywhere! (well in my living-room closet) I buy yarn for a certain project and put all those skeins in a plastic bag and pile them in one corner of my closet, then stuff that I'm currently working on, I have in a plastic bin - kinda like a laundry basket and it holds my few current projects the skeins of yarn needed and my 2 needle holders for crochet hooks and knitting needles. plus the patterns I'm currently working on. But I have dozens of computer-printed patterns that I have in my magazine rack, along with some misc pattern books and I feel like I'm too unorganized and have to keep searching for stuff! I need some creative ideas on organizing this stuff! I have on hand at least 3-4 dozen skeins of yarn, plus everything else and my husband is probably getting a little annoyed with me :)
Can I make a knitting pattern my own? It was a magazine pull out pattern from Woman's Weekly for a kimono cardi. I found it unneccessarily complicated, so I have changed the stitch patterns from moss stitch to stockingette, and changed the edgings from garter to K1 P1 rib. I have also knitted it from back to front rather than front to back (it is knitted in one piece). Can I make the pattern my own? I only want to use it on my knitting blog. EDIT: I want to put it on my blog as a free pattern.

just knitting is this funny? A policeman was patrolling a local parking spot overlooking a golf course. He drove by a car and saw a couple inside with the dome light on. There was a young man in the driver's seat reading a computer magazine and a young lady in the back seat knitting. He stopped to investigate. He walked up to the driver's window and knocked. The young man looked up, cranked the window down, and said, "Yes Officer?" "What are you doing?" the policeman asked. "What does it look like?" answered the young man. "I'm reading this magazine." Pointing towards the young lady in the back seat, the officer then asked, "And what is she doing?" The young man looked over his shoulder and replied, "What does it look like? She's knitting." "And how old are you?" the officer then asked the young man. "I'm nineteen," he replied. "And how old is she?" asked the officer. The young man looked at his watch and said, "Well, in about twelve minutes she'll be sixteen."
