Websites With Easy-To-Follow Knitting Instructions For Baby Clothes? Baby coming in a few weeks and I thought it cheaper to make some stuff instead of buying it and it makes the whole thing more sentimental. I already know the basics of knitting but haven't done any in a real long time. Any websites with good pictures and instructions? Thanks.
Can someone give me instructions on knitting patterns? I've taken up knitting and I can do the basic stitch fine but I'm wondering if there's any nice stitches I can do. I'm just knitting my friend a scarf for her birthday and I want to make it slightly more interesting than just plain pearl stitching the whole way down. A site that would give me good instructions would be nice too!
Having trouble with knitting instructions? I'm trying to knit some booties out of a book, and the instruction I'm stuck at says knit 15, skp 1, then turn. What does turn mean? Most everything I've knitted so far has been hats and scarves, so I hope I'm not too out of my league trying to figure out these booties. Thanks for the help!
Can someone explain these knitting instructions? I'm making a scarf [called "Triumph Scarf"]. I've casted on 48 stitches and I'm supposed to do this for the first row: (P2, K2) twice, * P4, (K2, P2) twice, K2 *, P4, (K2, P2) twice ^ that's exactly how it's written. Can someone write out what I'm supposed to do? I know I'm basically just doing knitting & purling.
Can anyone help with knitting instructions? Just started afghan "Celtic Tradition" from "Big Needle Knit Afghans" for a Christmas gift. I don't know if I'm dumb, or pattern is wrong, but it's not working for me. Cast on 165 sts. Knit 7 rows in garter. Pattern - Knit 1st & last 7 sts in garter. Rows 1, 3, & 5, knit. Rows 2 & 4: P3, k2, *p5, k2, rep from * across, end last rep p3. (When I get there after last p5, k2, I have 13 stitches or 6 plus my 7 stitch garter border.) Rows 6 & 8 (K2, sl 1) twice, *k3, sl 1, k2, sl 1, rep from * across, end last rep k2. (I believe I'd need 6 stitches to end with k2, but there are only 5 + 7 on needle.) Row 7 works out - P2, sl 1, k2, sl 1, *p3, sl 1, k2, sl 1, rep from * across, end last rep p2. Row 9: K2, C4, *k3, c4, rep from * across, end last rep k2. (There are 5 stitches + 7, not 2 + 7. Row 10 repeats row 2. Don't know if I'm reading this wrong, but I'm stuck, and I'm dreading pulling my work out. Can someone help?

Question on knitting instructions? I'm a beginner at knitting, and I'm a little confused about what the directions of a project are telling me to do. It says "(k4,k2 tog) to end." Does that mean I repeat (k4, k2 tog) until I reach the end of the row? Or do I just do it once? Please put the instructions into plain English for me. Thanks! Ok, let me share more of the instructions: Cast on 24 sts Row 1: (k4,k2 tog) to end. 16 sts If I repeated (k4,k2 tog) until the end, I wouldn't be left with 16 stitches, I would be left with 14. So I'm still confused. Any help?
Knitting instructions help? Ok so im knitting a little pig but im on its head. I just finnished the last row of the head and the instructions instructions say: Cut leaving long end of yarn. Thread end into yarn needle, draw through all sts into yarn needle and pull tight and secure. sew back seam and stuff head. If it helps, the head is round and it told me not to use a circualar needle.
Help with knitting pattern instructions? The instructions are: "Rep last 2 rows of K1 P1 ribbing for 2 ins, inc 3 sts evenly across last row and ending with a 2nd row." What does it mean to increase 3 stitches evenly? Where do I add the stitches? And what does it mean to end on a 2nd row?

Need help with knitting instructions (beginner), please!? I am a first time knitter. I don't know what the difference is between a stitch and a row when I'm measuring my gauge swatch (if anyone can provide diagrams, I'd really appreciate it). I know what a stitch is, but can't wrap my head around what a row encompasses. BTW, my yarn says I should use size US 8, but my instructions specify US 9 - which should I follow?. My instructions say: Gauge: 28 sts and 24 rows = 4 inches (10 cm) over stitch pattern. Stitches Used: Pattern Stitch: Wavy Rib Rows 1, 3, 5, 13, 15, and 17: K3, (p2, k2) 6 times, end k1 ________why is the 1st K capitalized & why are the others lowercase) Row 2 and All Even Rows: K the knit sts and p the purl stitches______ I thought k meant knit and p meant purl; so what does knit the the knit sts and purl the putl stitches mean (bc it sounds very redundant)? Rows 7, 9, and 11: K3, (p6, k2) 3 times, end k1 Rows 19, 21, and 23: K3, p2, (k2, p6) twice, k2, p2, k3 Row 24: Same as row 2 Rep Rows 1-24 for pattern Instructions: 1. Loosely cast on 28 stitches and work Wavy Rib pat. until scarf measures approx. 60 inches, ending with Rows 1-6. 2. Loosely bind off all sts in pat. Also, how tight do my stitches have to be? They're a little spaced out in that I can see the color of the knitting needles through the cast on stitches. Any help would be greatly appreciated (I'm attempting to make a scarf from the beginner level instructions provided by BHG.com). I'm as lost as a goose here. Thank you!
Knitting instructions translation please? Ok so i'm knitting a hat, I've started the band at the begining in rib, it's about 4cm/2in like the instructions say. Now i'm supposed to swith from 3 1/2 mm needles to 4mm (ok) and do exactly as follows: 1st row: Knit. 2nd row: Knit 1, * Purl1, Knit1B (b = knit into stitch bellow), rep from * to last two stitches, purl1, knit 1. First row, easy. But then the second row..? Does it mean i do a plain stitch, then a purl stitch, then make a stitch in plain stitch, then repeat over and over again? like make a stitch every two stitches? Because that sounds strange. Thanks Sorry wrong category, my mistake
How do I follow these knitting instructions? I am confused about what these knitting instructions mean. I am trying to knit a child's cardigan. The instructions say "With main color, cast on 34 stitches. Knit 2 for left front, PM, purl 7 for sleeve, PM, purl 16 for back, PM, purl 7 for other sleeve, PM, purl 2 for right front. Knit next row. Continue working in stockinette, increasing by knitting in front and back in the first and last stitch of every right side row 6 times and at the same time begin shaping as follows: KFB before and after each marker on every right side row 16 times. Remove markers and work back and forth until piece measures 6 inches from beginning." I know how to knit and purl and I know how to use place markers, I am just confused about how they want me to increase the stitches. Am I suppose to make 16 stiches out of 1? Or KFB one time in each place in each row or 16 rows? I have the same question about the 6 times too. Thank you in advance.
can someone explain these knitting instructions? Abbreviations: k knit p purl k2tog put the tip of right needle through the first two needles on the left needle and knit them together yo bring yarn from back to front over right needle Instructions: Cast on 25 sts. If you want to change the width of the scarf, increase or decrease the number of stitches by 2’s. Rows 1-4: Knit. Row 5: *K2tog, yo; rep from * until 1 st remains on left needle, k1. Rows 6-9: Knit. Rows 10, 12, 14: Purl. Row 11, 13: Knit. Repeat these 14 rows, ending with row 9, until scarf is the desired length. (Approximately 60 - 80 inches). Bind off. i dont understand the 7th step. i know almost nothing about knitting, so can someone explain it as easily as possible? thank you(:
My knitting pattern has more instructions than stitches available, am I doing something wrong? The cast on was 40 stitches but Row 1 in the pattern reads: Sl 1, K2, K2tog, (K5, yfwd, K1, yfwd, K2, sl 1, K2tog, psso) twice, K5, yfwd, K1, yfwd, K2, sl 1, K1, psso, K3 By my count that's 46 stitches? that's impossible with only 40 stitches on the needle, is there something I'm missing?
Help with these knitting instructions? I am part way through knitting a cardigan and do not really understand these instructions. They say: "On next RS row, knit across putting sleeve stitches on stitch holders. Cast on 12 stitches, placing marker after casting on 6 to mark center side. Purl 1 row." I have designated stitches for the left front, left sleeve, back, right sleeve, and right front of the cardigan. I know what a place marker is and how to use them, and I know that "RS" is right side. I am confused about where I cast these stitches on at. The cardigan is symmetrical and it doesn't make sense to cast them on at the beginning of the row and add 12 stitches to only one front side. Where would I cast them on at?
knitting instructions, what does this mean? I'm knitting my first sweater and I don't under stand what this means: Bind off at neck edge 3 sts once, [2 sts] stitches twice and [1 st] four times. I don't understand what I am supposed to do. I know what the abbreviations stand for, but I don't understand how to do what it is asking me.
Help deciphering knitting instructions? ("At the same time" confusion)? Hi, I've just started knitting and I'm having trouble figuring out what some of the instructions in my book mean. I'm making a cabled cowl, and after the initial cable set up, it says... "Work cable repeat once more. AT SAME TIME, when piece measures 4", decrease 9 stitches evenly. Work cable repeat twice more, working 4 instead of 5 rounds before cable round. Work cable repeat to end, working 3 rounds even instead of 4 between cable rounds. AT SAME TIME, decrease 9 stitches evenly every 2". Continue in pattern until cowl measures 17.5" long." That's a bit of a paraphrase, but the part I'm confused about is when it says "decrease 9 stiches every 2"." Does that mean every two inches right after the piece measures 4"? (So the decreases would be at 6", 8", etc) or after you decrease the even rounds to 3? Thanks for any help!
I need help with these knitting instructions. They are confusing me.? Ok. It says (RS) K12 sts, turn. Leave remaining stitches on a spare needle and continue on these stitches only for the first side. I knitted the 12 stitches but what do they mean by turn? I put the other stitches on another needle but what does it mean by continue on these stitches only for the first side? Somebody please help me!
Why is very hard to find knit instructions for LEFT-handed people? I am an avid crochet queen! However, I wanted to go to the dark-side and lean to knit...I've been having a heck of a time learning. I have some idea and can get it a little...I though I would go ahead and learn right handed because the left-handed patterns and instructions are few and far between. I never had trouble crocheting left handed.
Need help with knitting instructions!? I understand the first few instructions and i'v completed the following: Beginning at the lower edge with smaller needles, cast on 56 (63, 70, 77, 84, 91) stitches. Knit 6 rows for garter-stitch band. Change to larger needles. Beginning with a purl row, work in stockinette stitch (knit 1 row, purl 1 row) until piece measures approximately 15 inches from beginning ending with a purl row. Armhole Shaping: At the beginning of the next 2 rows, bind off 4 stitches. Continue in stockinette on remaining 48 (55, 62, 69, 76, 83) stitches to approximately 21 (21 1/2, 22, 22 1/2, 23, 23 1/2) inches from beginning ending with a knit row. RIght here is where i get lost- i don't understand what they mena my "wrong side" and "right side" Neckband: Row 1 (wrong side): Purl 11 (14, 17, 20, 23, 26) stitches, knit 26 (27, 28, 29, 30, 31) stitches, purl to end. Row 2 and each following right side row: Knit. Row 3: Purl 10 (13, 16, 19, 22, 25), knit 28 (29, 30, 31, 32, 33), purl to end. Row 5: Purl 9 (12, 15, 18, 21, 24), knit 30 (31, 32, 33, 34, 35), purl to end. With the right side facing, bind off knitwise and loosely. thanks for any help
I need help translating knitting instructions.? The pattern says "With right side facing, begin and end within 9 stiches of back seam, knit up 18 stitches along heel for ankle strap. Next row, cast on 22, knit to end and turn and cast on 4 stitches." This doesn't seem to make sense to me. I'm making a baby booty with an ankle strap and am so close to being finished. Thanks.
Does anyone understand these knitting instructions? I'm working on knitting a mitten and I'm confused about what this instruction is trying to tell me to do. this is the instruction: 11th row: K27. Turn. Cast on 1 st. P13 (including cast on st). Turn. Cast on 1 st. K14. ***Beg with a purl row, work 9 rows in stocking st. I'm at the point where is says "beginning with a purl row..." Is there supposed to be a small hole where I started to purl or did I mess up?
How do I use these yoke knitting instructions? I have these instructions from a Finnish site and unfortunately the translation is literal, I'm sure I'd be able to make sense of it if I'd knitted a yoke before but I haven't so I need help! Yoke: Create loops for sleeves as follows. Help needed to understand knitting instructions? A pattern calls for 22 stitches cast on including (edge stitches). The pattern then begins by saying cast on multiples of 5 stitches. then the actual instruction starts at row 1, Row 1: k5 , p5, k5, p5 Row 2: knit over knit, purl over purl, to end of row the rest is understandable. so heres all my questions: What are edge stitches? Why does it ask to do the pattern in mutiples? Why does it call for 22 stitches when the rows only ask for 20 stitches? What does knit over knit and purl over purl mean? Thanks for the explanation but I'm still a little confused about the knit over knit and purl over purl. I'll post the first four rows, and maybe you can give me an example of how it should be done. Row 1: *5 k, 5 p* repeat from * to * Row 2: and all even rows knit k over k, p over p Row 3: 1 p, *5 k, 5 p* repeat from * to *, 4 p Thank you
knitting instructions re: understanding pattern? after the first 18 rows, the pattern says to increase 1 st at each end of 11th and every following 8th row until a certain amount of sts remains.... would that be row 29, 37, 45 etc? this is the way i've done it but now i've run into problems in terms of the remaining stitches.... (the pattern is: k row, k row, k row, p2 tog, m1 until last st, p1 suddenly 90 or so rows in i've ended up with an even amount of sts at the p2tog row so that there is no remaining st. to purl.... i've double checked my counting & i don't seem to have made a mistake) help!
Girls Only Toy Knitting Machine - instructions? Would like someone to post complete instructions for this toy knitting machine. I saw another question on the same topic but only the circular (tubular) instructions were given. I've been able to successfully complete a tube, but would like the complete instructions for what looks like a rectangular (back and forth) mode of knitting. This machine works very well for a toy!! thank you! To Donya: yes, as I indicated in my question originally, I had already found the question you pointed out... it's just the tubular directions. I would like all of the directions... I believe there should be directions for a rectangular format. Thanks for your help.
